Thank you so much! I love this game so much but it has been gathering dust since I lost my group.

Hmm... Should the AI not have removed the influence on Meezle III when attacking you there, thus gaining 3 less VP in that optional end scoring?? Great playthrough even though some minor "viewer rules checks" (some do call them mistakes, but I assume you just test if the people watching really pay attention ;-))

Thanks for pointing out the mistakes. I always appreciate it, for real. Without the time code it’s hard to say, but you’re probably right about Meezle III. If the AI had influence there, and then later attacked, he would indeed lose the Control cube, giving him a few less victory points in the end. 😉

@@TheMountainGamer It takes place at 1:28:43 (bing, bing, bing! ) :D Also, wouldn't the AI retreat to that green planed just to the left that it controls, instead of back to Silast?? There is something fishy with the documents containing the helper cards as well. Can not print them 😞 Could you please check the document so I can print them... Would really like to play this little beauty during the Christmas holidays. Would love to try this variant out over the holiday days off :D

Oh crap.... I’ll check it out and fix it before tomorrow morning....

-> You're right, the AI should have retreated to the small planet on the top-left of the screen. I guess I didn't see the "path" there while I was playing. My bad. -> As for the file, it opens okay over here. That being said, I re-exported it to PDF using Mac Preview and called it "EoV2_Solo Mode_rules help-cards_IF-TROUBLE-PRINTING" ... So maybe give that one a shot.

@@TheMountainGamer Really sorry to bother you mate, but neither of those two documents work for me :-/ I have tried to print directly from Chrome, Edge, Firefox. Downloaded the document and tried to print through Adobe local application.. No go 😞 I tried from 2 different computers as well. Just doesn't work. It says something about error while drawing the thing for the printout... (if that helps?) The other documents in the folder works though *yay* 😛

Thanks for everything, I will try. Do you think this solo mode is compatible with the exploration variant?
@TheMountainGamer

Hi Anthony, I'm not sure... I've never tried the exploration variant. My reflex would be to say "no", because there's nothing in the AI's rules that would make move in the direction of unexplored planets....

yes I know, but I have the feeling that adding the unknown and exploration would be a big plus in solo. Not knowing where the AI starsloop and starfarer are hiding, not knowing where the AI has its initial influence. It would be determined in the initial setup with no rule changes, alongside allied tokens, like the Sarkeen Regency, waiting to be discovered. I've printed your solo cards and am ready to try. I feel like it would make the game more challenging and exciting (at least for me) I'll try as soon as I have some time and I'll post my feedback. I just have a doubt about how AI movement works in your variant: From the moment I control an inhabited planet, the bot will always seek to join this planet? and will never take into account the continuation of the preference list? or do you have to follow the list according to what he can achieve in 1 (or 2 moves after the first scoring)? thanks again

Concerning movement: as soon as you control a planet, you're pretty much screwed; the AI will always try to reach it. ... It's been a while since I've played with the solo variant, but it's safe to say that when it's the AI's turn, you should *always* refer to the "list" and follow it to the letter. Always make the AI achieve the first thing it can, even if that sometimes make him do stupid things. 😂 As for your idea of using the solo variant with the "exploration" variant, please, go for it! It sounds like fun! And like you said, post your progress here for people to see! 👍🏼

@@TheMountainGamer I did it! I copy here the message I just posted on the bgg forum of the perilous fringe variant: boardgamegeek.com/thread/1937285/article/35027503#35027503 "hello, I'm digging up this subject because I played this variant for the first time not long ago by modifying a few points. First, I followed the "v2" found on "The Mountain Gamer" youtube channel : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-01NGq9xwSpE.html. I tried to add the exploration variant in order to compensate for the lack of "adversity" with the feeling of the unknown and exploration. . And I lost miserably 43 to 34. Which is a good point for me because there is a challenge! I didn't even need to make a final score for the bot (as suggested by The Mountain Gamer) The exploration variant certainly makes the game more difficult because the options are reduced and it is more difficult to make super moves. Above all, it was my most exciting session because there was the unknown and the fear. Indeed I did not know the position of the enemy, the position of the Sarkeen Regency, I did not know where to find powerful allies etc. Exploration adds a lot for me, especially in a space game. I figured the adversary had jamming/cloaking technology on the planets they occupied, to justify the need to end their movement on the planet to reveal it. I think next time I will add a way to reveal planets faster. I ended the game with 3 unrevealed planets. I think revealing them faster will make the game more interesting (and a little less difficult) My idea to test: Use a command point to "send a probe" to a planet 1 away from our world ship or a starsloop and reveal it. (+1 command point for each additional zone) 1 probe maximum per turn and this bonus action would only be possible during a movement action. Final photo on bgg: I have 3 unexplored planets left, I placed on the unrevealed planets the units and the influence of the bot as well as the last sarkeen regency after the scoring to make the final photo more readable. But during the game I didn't know what was on these planets (it was on the ally tokens) If you test this configuration, I am interested in your feedback!" Thank you again for your work to make this variant more accessible, that's what made me want to try it and modify it too (I had tried the other variants and I didn't really like it, too complicated )

Thanks Tony, I’ll try and get this to the table again and use your proposed ideas - it sounds great! I’ll hit you up on Bgg if/when I do.
