In this video I go rabbit hunting with my savage 93r17 for the first time. I try out my homemade scope camera mount and have some success before accidentally breaking it. All in all I get a few rabbits and get to see lots of quail and coyote but I am forced to leave early due to the heat.

Nice! You should try looking up the California fish and game RU-vid channel. They give web seminars that are great for new hunters and they list off a lot of public land all over the state.

Nice day out! Question; what are you using for lead free ammunition? The CCIs are the only ones I can find out there.

Thank you! I’m using Hornday 15.5 grain NTX. I actually bought this gun last year but just within the past month finally found some non lead ammo for it. I want to try the CCI green but haven’t been able to find it anywhere.

Finally got my license. Going with a .22 pellet gun Wed morning to bypass the lead free issue. Was cheaper to buy a break barrel then get ammo for my 22lr so lets see how it goes. Only problem when getting used to it I noticed groups aren't as tight as I want.

I don’t doubt that it’s possible. My concern was that the only California legal ammo I had was only 15 grains. I wasn’t sure if it would carry enough energy for an ethical shot

Switch to solid points for smallgame and that'll resolve the meat damage.

I’d like to but I can only use non lead in California so I’m pretty limited on what I’m able to find in stock

Thank you! If you want to stay local then your best bet is to become friends with someone who owns an orchard near town. Newman is great for dove hunting if you can get orchard access!

Ya man I’m always worried about my car getting broken into or someone shooting it for fun. I’ve ran into some sketchy people out here. It’s a real shame that BLM rangers aren’t able to patrol often
