As I arrived at the Malatapay Wharf, I didn't have any kind of reservation or plan. I was a solo traveler and boats only take a minimum of 5 people. i found two couples that I could share the boat with and we made it to the island. Apo island was full of incredibly nice people, locals taking a shower at the well, having a fun time at the billiard hall and just hanging out at the island. The boats usually park on one side of the island and the tourists disemark and usually flock towards the other side of the island where the turtles live.
This day was one day after a storm, so we really had difficulties finding turtles. My guide found one large one and I found a small one.
Would definitely recommend visitors to go here. It was quite an inexpensive experience all-in-all and you get to meet new people as well. This can be a half day trip, as the waves can get pretty rough towards the afternoon.
