One thing I've learned when dealing with dismissive doctors is to make sure that they document your chart. When you make them put it in writing, it's amazing how they take your concerns more seriously and will send you for tests. Once they can be held accountable, they remember all of their training.
For a cheap quick fix, get a couple of the screens that slide open and put in your front windows. That will let air flow in and slow down the rain a little, unless it’s pouring .
❤️You should start looking up Korean spas in areas you’re in. The $25-30 to get in buys you a 24hr stay along with different types of saunas, showers, pools and hot tubs etc. They have authentic Korean restaurants, body shampoos/scrubs and massages too. Very relaxing when the world is throwing life at you. Sometimes I go for an entire Sunday just to escape. I hope you’re doing ok. ❤️
I’m 6 weeks into sleeping my car. So far it’s been good. I live in higher elevations so it cools down at night. I have a2020 Ford Escape so I don’t have to deal with car issues. I plan on doing this till I have at least 20k in savings
What state are you in? I’m about to live in my car in a few weeks to save money after a job layoff. I could go to family but this is a great opportunity for me to travel and save money.
Don't get down- remember, all kinds of problems occur to people whether they're living in house, apt or van. You're doing good and we're all rooting for you!
This is one of the most authentic Vanlife videos I have ever seen, kudos for you for showing how it truly is! That’s exactly why I decide to do Vanlife only part time, sometimes for a few weeks or months at a time then I definitely love having a home to come back to. People don’t understand that so much of Vanlife is just trying to find a place to be, or a place to be comfortable, or a place not to be harassed or bothered… Like in your other video of the man watching you. Solo female traveling can be a bit uncomfortable at times, but still rewarding to feel capable and self-sufficient! It’s also not cheap living in a van at all! Thanks for showing the true side to people, I’ve definitely had a few friends try to start the life very unprepared so from now on I’m pointing them to your videos anytime people ask me about what it’s really like. Kudos on all your hard work girl, you’ve got a great personality!🤙❤️
@@AlyssaVanilla you are one of my favorites! You always make me smile, and even if your in a rough spot..you’re still scrappy and optimistic:) ..and you remind me of home a little..(West Texas)
It's been hot that's for sure. I had to leave Tucson in May to make it back to Kentucky for some humid weather. Cooling down now though. Stay cool out there and keep your head up. Glad you got your van fixed! 🙌Thanks for sharing your journey ✌ -Marshall 🎸
There was an old saying that was told to me by a wise woman. She said that anything worthwhile going through will make the best out of the best in the long run. You are a product of your own product and you're making your past and you do not want to take nothing to the Grave so anything you're experiencing is to make you stronger wiser and the one only you. Live your life to the fullest. No one will ever be you you have your own looks your own Persona your own qualities which is a label of its own you keep going girl and do the best that you can and in the long run you will get the prize that you've been so much seeking only you know what it is. So when you die on your Tombstone you could put I've exhausted all my paths in life and I live to the fullest so I left nothing behind and nothing to rot but a museum of who I was as a person while I lived in one lifetime. You are awesome I enjoy all your shows and all your speak you keep up with your positive outlook
Rain guards for the front Doors of your van . You are able to crack your windows and rain will not get in . Go on RU-vid and check out ice chest air conditioner it may help you to stay cool . Love your videos and your pleasant demeanor makes me smile. Thanks.
Yeah I like those rain guards) you can at least crack the windows in a heavy storm) it amazes me) to see how rugged women can be) like Alyssa) she said she could live in car🧐) as a chocolate dude) I can't even picture me doing it😂) but I like my vans🤣
I had the exact same experience at my Neurologist visit and I waited about four or five months for the visit. I have a referral for a new Neurologist which I'm waiting on an appointment for. Imma pray for me and you, Girlie. Feel better! 🌞
get those stick on rain guards for your windows so you can crack them open when raining. Also people can't see that your windows are cracked open with them. Also you can get window socks to put over your window to let air in while keeping bugs out.
the rude and dismissive neurologist is shitty but so relatable, i’m sorry you had to deal with it :( i’m glad you managed to get your issues fixed before you got up to the mountain! it looks so beautiful
Get bug-netting with magnets around edges for windows!! Then have lil usb/rechargable fan near one to suck in air. Or a bug netting thing that drapes from ceiling and goes around bed
One thing i learned while boondocking and camping in the heat is a good portable air conditioner or at least a makeshift one. Glad you was able to get the muffler fixed.
*YO sis dig it! I have a 2003 GMC Safari ( identical parts to the astro van ) fully loaded. I got about 6 years ago. PEEP GAME, learn to go by PULL YARD/JUNK YARDS and pull your own parts that would normally break!!! Sense you are on the road, purchase a roof storage capsule and use it to store spare parts and tools! PLEASE RUST ME, you will save yourself so much grief by digging in, using the videos on RU-vid and taking care of your van in that way. GREAT THING IS, things that break on these vans are normally across the board-common, so it makes it easier to diagnose and resolve.*
Great video like always! I love your positivity even during rough terrain! It gets lonely on the road but seeing you go through similar things is comforting. And you're right nothing is better than getting a good workout in at PF, taking a cold shower then relaxing on a hydro bed 💆🏽♂️Peace and good vibes out there!
Hi Alyssa, hopefully no more hiccups for a while. BTW I was gonna suggest the mesh screens that allow for airflow while keeping out mosquitoes 🦟. Stay safe, n until the next video.💜👍🏽
Glad the Van is going again! I'm becoming a napper too 💗 They really are the best 💕 Look for some mint flavoring and add to a spray bottle, you can also use melted ice to spritz around and drop the temp. But the mint sprayed around the Van inside and out can help deter the blood suckers. Anything to camo your body smell and breath. That's how they hunt. In my Chiari Malformation world a neurologist is noted as a drug pusher. And finding one that makes a fix is few and far between. I hope you find a good team member soon. Lifting You Up 🙏
Hey girl. I’ve been watching you for a few weeks. I feel like you’re so relatable and genuine. Keep that energy and remember everything is temporary. Thank you for your content and letting us into your world. I’m not one to comment on videos, but I felt like I had to. Keep on, keeping on. Saludos from Louisiana 💕☺️
I feel for you because I've been in very similar situations and I pray that you stay safe, being a girl out there certainly is more dangerous then for a man and you have smarts and stay safe
Being female is more dangerous that being said a stupid man is probably as unsafe as a female but has strength over and above most females and therefore has the advantage of fending off would be attackers that a female may not
recommendation. one of the most important thing s you can do is install an maxxair fan on the roof. its decently priced and you can install yourself if you can borrow the tools.
You need the Fantastic fan roof vent. Also you sleep eat or work in the van and you LIVE outside. Try Michigan in the summer and Nevada/Arizona in the winter.
I don’t know if you want to stay in the south, but Bisbee is fun! You can loiter there - no one cares. The libraries are also an easy place to hang out in the ac - the movie theaters too. There’s also a huge lake in Sahuarita that’s nice. Kartchner cavern is also interesting and there are great hiking trails. Sierra Vista also has a great Korean restaurant. I feel like southern AZ is so random lol
I don’t really want to stay here because it’s so hot but I have to right now, I’ve heard so many good things about bisbee! Love all of your comments and southern AZ knowledge 😍
I wish I never found your channel 😩 I just found you some hours ago and have been binge watching knowing I have to wake up in a few hours for work only I haven't even been to sleep😩...thanks Alyssa lol
Hey Alyssa, I must say I admire what you're doing. I'm an RVer and shortly I'll be doing it full time. I just saw your videos for the first time and you inspired me with your courage, so I subscribed. Sorry about your muffler. Hope you get back on the road asap. Your video in Oregon, what part of the state is that. It is beautiful. Stay safe.
I only wish nothing but the BEST for you as "the struggle is REAL"!!!!! Kudos to you and please stay positive!!!!! Kudos to you for sharing your experience!!! :)-
Get ready for work about ever 3 months on van repairs for a while. I have a old Chevy too. It is what it is. Get some screen and magnets from Home Depot cut you a few windows out
I watch all your video I went thru same thing in the same van woo woo trying to leave Tucson to Florida build bed foam at Joann's 22 Ave kold did lot of service drove it to Florida still driving it today love your channel
Bug bands work great they’re just bands that have bug spray on them that you wear on your ankle are your wrist or hang them in your car and they’re really cheap
After all that, and the heat too I'm so glad you went up to Flagstaff cuz whenever you go higher up it's a lot cooler, it was nice to see you relax and take a nap you deserve it 🐂💝🐂💝🐂💝🐂💝🐂💝
Happy your van is fixed. I didn't think it was going to cost a lot. I must say, it worries me somewhat you don't (unless I am mistaken.) have black out window covers for some privacy. You just never know who is watching and the less they see the better, a lot of sick people in the world that prey on others. Stay safe and blessed. Get something up, curtains something. That you can open and close when you like. Lots of alternatives are on Amazon cheap and cheerful. Solo female, part-time van camper, that had to gradually get my own privacy sorted out since recently upgrading to a bigger vehicle. Better to be safer than sorry. 🇬🇧
You are absolutely nuts chilling in Tucson with no AC in a van😁 I admire your dedication and strength cause I couldn't do that lol, you need to drive up to Mt Lemmon and cool down, Edit: lmfao, ok just got to the part where you drive to Mt Lemmon, that's too funny
I don't know if this will help I purchased a mosquito net from Walmart. It's pretty huge for a sleeping outside mosquito net and I cut it up a little to be able to use some of it on my windows. Now when I open the window I have a mesh mosquito net up to keep them out. I also found that window wind blockers are good over the windows. They allow me to roll my window down some while raining and keep the cool breeze coming in. I hope one of these ideas help. #Artisbluu
I think one of the things about van life is tat people aren't realistic about the van falling apart! If someone came up to you and said, "Hey, I just bought a 2003 Chevrolet! I'm planning on driving it criss-cross across the country on a bunch of extended road trip! Gonna put a LOT of miles on it!" Would't you have some concerns about that? Yet when you replace that car with an old van, people seem to think it's a viable lifestyle. Old vans break down! And the older they get, the more that goes wrong with them.
Buy a battery operated mosquito swatter. It’s like a tennis racket with metal instead of mesh and you put 3 A A batteries, press a button and swat the mosquito 🦟 will pop when you kill it. They sell them at Walmart, and they are well worth the $10. It’s the best small summer investment I have made! You will be very happy you bought it.
I've literally had the same thing happen with my dodge! U can't literally tie it up with some tire wire u can get at a hardware store or some old rope until u can get some. Honestly, if your not going to put a new exhaust on I would just get rid of it. It's not going damage anything on the engine. It's not going to be full efficiency but mine totally fell off recently on my Nissan. It's loud as hell but eh, the beast still drives you should be good.(it's not going to make u break down in the future is what I'm saying....)
At first, I was a bit worried, someone chopped off your catalytic converter. That's a big thing right now. Might want to start looking into duct tape and maybe that Flex seal stuff. It's cheaper than mechanics. RU-vid answers almost all questions for doing cheap hacks if necessary. Ancient Egyptians wet down their linens at night to get some evaporative cooling when sleeping. Good luck!
I live out of my vehicle and I bought a UBC operated fan it has three speeds in it has a light three different settings it was only $20 on Amazon and it is amazing and you won’t be sweating you pointed towards your face and it has half your body and your face and it kept me cool in 100° temperature you might want to check it out it’s only 20 bucks on Amazon
hello gorgeous. that s the thing about older vans and going on lots of driving. things are going to go wrong. take it stride. may need a good review of the van to see what may go wrong soon. you may not want that in your head though either. Breath, take it one day at a time as usual until you get to the next woods area to let it all go and get your center back. Hope your Dr. appointments get better, take care of the pretty head of yours.
get yourself a couple of those window sock mesh screen things that slip over your door and slide down over your open window - or create yourself some cheapy DIY magnetic ones from dollar tree tulle and magnets, lol
I used to drive around go to the park go to Walmart get water from the park in a bucket like from a water hose then go back to Walmart or Kroger go to sleep!!!!
You might try those screens that go over your car door. You roll the window down and stretch this screen over the door and then shut it. Sorry I can't remember what they're called.
Your so cute and funny. Trust me it's definitely hard. I'm I'm single dad. My little girl is 4 and my son is 6.its a task. Enjoy the most of what e er your going threw.you only live once beautiful
Get a fan that is rechargeable or run by batteries and then just velcrow it to the ceiling of your Van and then there is a bug zapper. I'll get the name of it and get back to you on that
