Like this video or any others I've posted? Then maybe you'd like to 'buy me a coffee' :
www.buymeacoffee.com/cottonbud
I set out to explore the countryside outside my front door with this 25 mile hike over 2 days, including a solo overnight wild camp by a secluded woodland stream.
My shelter is the MSR Elixir 1 tent.
Rather than talking in this vid, I've written an accompanying blog about it :

If the place in your latest vid is walking distance from your house I'm surprised you're not out every night! But you are so right. It's so good not to rely on vehicles, makes it more satisfying somehow. Thanks for watching! Rich 👍

@@CottonBud I live in Bethesda, Gwynedd in Snowdonia and can be in the mighty Carneddau range of mountains within 45 minutes walking from my home. Having lived here all my life I have grown used to the scenery which other people travel hundreds of miles to walk on. I count myself very lucky and thank you for the comment.

Funnily enough I bought it the night before this camp, then went home and watched your Snowdonia vid and thought 'everyone will think I'm cutting Homer's style if I film that now'! But they genuinely are a fave of mine on camps too. I think of them as Real Turmat for chavs. And Chicken & Mushroom is at least 3 times nicer than any other flavour of Pot Noodle, that has been proven by science.

Thanks Rob. I've got a few 1 man tents, and a couple way more expensive than this (which would be better suited to surviving extreme weather up a windswept hill) but I have to say the Elixir 1 is the single most pleasant to spend the night in. If I know it isn't going to be 30mph + winds, and I don't mind the extra weight, it's my tent of choice. 👍 Cheers. Rich

Excellent, really enjoyed your blog I reckon you could of done a track to the under water filming. You know to house music when the put in the echoeness and sound of the sonar (it's a while back but I remember.) The beats ... I go on but you could do that ! I really like the use of the trangia burner, a silent way to make a cuppa. Could I ask what you wind breaker stand is, excellent bit of kit. The fact you've taken gloves to do all the woodland handling was really sensible. Thanks m8 Ps look forward to the track soon lol
@CottonBud
@CottonBud 2 года назад
Haha I'll take that music advice on board for sure! Funnily enough I've just finished a watery track called 'Kelp' but it's full of seagulls, waves lapping, yacht rigging type noises - maybe overkill for a stream 6 inches deep 😅The burner stove is called the Bushbox Ultralight by Bushcraft Essentials. To be honest I was using a Trangia Triangle which is very similar, but I lost the metal ring where the burner sits somewhere, rendering it useless, and they are famously out of stock of them now - selling for silly money on eBay i believe. So I got this instead, and it's a bit fiddly but a decent bit of kit, which you can also use as a very small twig stove. Not cheap mind, be warned... www.bushcraft-essentials.com/en/outdoor-stoves/28/bushbox-ultralight-outdoor-pocket-stove Thanks once again for watching, reading the blog, and commenting - always appreciated! Cheers. Rich 👍

Serene as always, more room this time Rich ,have you sacked the alpkit hooped bivi ? Local is better I think , I used to drive to Dartmoor and the Peak District now I get the train to the coast and walk back an enlightening experience regards Mick
@CottonBud
@CottonBud 2 года назад
Thanks Mick. I still have the Alpkit and can see that I may still find use for it in warmer months when stealth is paramount, although if a significantly better option came along (XL version Alpkit PLEASE!) I may swap it.. But it's made me fall even more in love with my Snugpak Ionosphere which isn't a lot bigger or heavier, is nearly as stealthy, and is like a palace inside. Love the idea of walking home by the way, I've had a notion for ages now to get the bus to the High Peak and walk home over 2 or 3 days. Watch this space! Hope you are having a good weekend sir. Cheers. Rich 👍

@@CottonBud thanks am out local in the hammock, , I use a ridge raider in the winter very spacious fits the mountain equipment 7 inch thick mat or might be 7 cm 😵‍💫 but very good made from event so breathable mine is the old model but very good bitta kit ,have a good one yerself are you still boycotting pubs ?
@CottonBud
@CottonBud 2 года назад
@@hackneeey Yes the Ridge Raider does look a tempting bit of kit - it's just the end entry that I'd need to try I think. There IS a near perfect hooped bivvy out there for me and I know what it's called - the Carinthia Observer Plus Gore Tex. But even if I had 600 nicker handy, they aren't available at the present, just like many other good things sadly! As for pubs, I did go to gardens for a bit early summer but now don't - I may do an update on the situation in my blog soon. Anyway, hope you are enjoying the hammock - have a good one!

@CottonBud
@CottonBud 2 года назад
Cheers Lee. Yeah they are a revelation those filters eh? The only downside is the life of them, but I worked out I could still be using it every weekend for a good few years before it needed swapping. If only the same could be said for shoes..? The Elixir is my glamping tent, it's way comfier and more pleasant to be in than any of my others. I can cope with the weight (I did here over a good distance anyway) and would tend to use it when it's not pissing it down where possible (so inner first no issue yet). Only thing that does my head in is the pole... trying to get all four corners in those teeny flat grommets has been a problem every time so far! I'm probably just a bit rubbish. Cheers for the watch mate - are you back from sunnier climes yet?
@BurtonOutdoors
@BurtonOutdoors 2 года назад
@@CottonBud Yes I'm back in the UK now matey... Nice to get some sun for sure. The grommets yes 😡 if I don't use the footprint I just bang two pegs in the end to hold it in place then poles in each end then take pegs out and move it where I want if needed...

Beautifull spot! Did you forgot to remove the rubber ring from Your trangia stove? (4.50) 🤔
@CottonBud
@CottonBud 2 года назад
Thank you! Do you mean the seal ring on the screw cap? Why would anyone remove that, surely it's there to prevent leaks? Although I realise you have to be careful not to use the seal cap to snuff out the flame by mistake, or you melt it...
@robkruitbosch4654
@robkruitbosch4654 2 года назад
@@CottonBud you Left it on the stove after removing the cap. It burns away when light the stove does it?
@CottonBud
@CottonBud 2 года назад
@@robkruitbosch4654 Oh I see what you're thinking but relax, that's just a darkish stain around the top of the burner, probably caused by the rubber ring (which is still very much in the cap, I assure you - I'm looking at it now and you can briefly see it in the vid anyway) in conjunction with left over fuel sloshing about perhaps. It's had a lot of use and continues to be fully functional. No rubber rings were burned in the making of this video 😅
