Thanks for the support everyone! If you'd like to take these concepts further, you can book a one-on-one online lesson with me here: jeffrandalldrumming.com
This was an incredible lesson for me. I cannot believe how easily it came together and greatly expanded my six stroke fill vocabulary! Thanks, young man!👍🍩
You have a rock solid meter and obviously you have had a great deal of structured training. You're a very accomplished drummer for your age. Great work!
Absolutely fantastic explanation, Jeff! This is probably one of the most useful little nuggets you kind of forget that you're doing once you get used to it, in general just the R-L-L has so many incredible applications just like you're demonstrating one of them here! Great lesson, glad you're teaching people this one! :)
This Tutorial helped a lot! Very good that youi explain everything slowly at first before you speed up. Also, not too much and not too less talking. Very well done!
They say there is no talent just practice... nothing further from the truth tho. There is something u are born with. And you have it sir. Keep doing what u are doing. Having fun!
Been teaching my grandson ...nice video brother! You are clean and easy to understand...Rylan and Phil are impressed...thanks for sharing...we are greatful. Ry is 14 and I'm 64...lol Life long learners perfecting our craft! I'm sharing this with my students man...thanks again.
You make it seem so easy. Definately smooth and effortless. I've never even come close to that speed when this rudiment comes to life, and I've played for about 30 years. So I've never found any use of it. (Or other rudiments of this character for that matter) But it's cool to hear how it supposed to sound. 😊
I really dig this lesson. 6 stroke rolls almost always sound great. Going from the 6 to the 3 shouldn't be as difficult as I'm having. I can play either at decent tempos, but getting the combo over 115 has been a struggle
I used to have to practice in a storage facility, that's when I was good, RLL and LRR is a good primer. Six stroke roll, I'm still learning, I can make the six stroke sound with single RL strokes and a lot of effort, you make it look easy. Don't stop keep practicing, you can lose chops if you don't practice.
Spoken like someone who doesn’t work with professional drummers. In the last 30 years spent recording & producing professional musicians, I can only think of literally a few working drummers that came in without a solid grasp on rudiments, and they were all young and untrained. The overwhelming majority of the professional drummers - well over 85% - who are touring or studio musicians, are fanatical in their preparation and warmup, with bombproof rudiments. There’s always gotta be the “hot take” guy on any type of forum with a comments section, I suppose.
Great video!! I am struggling with getting my fingers involved in such fills but you make it look super easy. Can you please make another video about coming to the point where drummers can use their fingers efficiently? I would be so glad to be informed about it. Thank you so much ^^
