This hit me at the perfect time... I figured it was a lesson that was years old and I look and see it was done 12 hours ago... well done sir, people like you are honestly unsung heroes in the guitar community

Ha same, I came across Jason through Truefire and just started catching up on content on RU-vid. Honestly, wouldn't have noticed had I not read your comment.

Now we know why Jason sounds so good. He has mastered the mechanics of chord progressions. And, he has ALL that stuff in his head & fingers in real time. Automatic. Almost no thought delays. Truly an ability for a guitarist to strive for. I will try to add my suggestion that may possibly speed your learning. Get a cheap electronic keyboard. Start @ middle "C" & learn (play) all the major chords up the chromatic scale to the next "C". (C, E, G), (C#, F, G#), (D, F#, A), etc. Say the notes as you are playing them. This will greatly help your recognition of the root, third, and fifth of the chords when you play them on guitar. The keyboard is linear, unlike a guitar. You can "see" the chord components & their relationship to each other. You will also "see" the second, flat third, flat fifth, sixth, and flat seventh much easier. It also helps to know the component intervals in a scale. Whole steps & half steps. For the major scale, it's (W, W, H, W, W, W, H). Again easy to "see" (and hence memorize) on the keyboard. Will then not be so mysterious when played on your guitar. Thank you, Jason. Subscribed.

So many songs, like the great old country songs, have that 1...4...5...progression . Thankfully I play and sing those songs but only play rhythm. Great place to start learning lead ❤❤❤❤ thank you!!!!

Excellent lesson! Thanks so much for doing it in the key of G, which is the most common key! So many videos are geared around the key of C which means I have to transpose everything before I start working on learning the lesson in a form that is useful to me, being that the key of G is so common in country music

Great lesson! I know the Caged,. Your emphasizing the overlapping of the Major scales over the Minor is awesome for Country, Country Blues, Blues Rock and good old Blues! Thanks for this great refresher! Awesome stuff!

I'm not here yet. The way you explain is not for beginners. Most don't knownwhat triads or inversions are. Thank you though. It's worth a watch and notation to get the g major scale down. I know the A and a few more. Glad this lesson is long. Shows you care.

Not for beginners but definitely worth a beginners time. Always good to get exposed to these ideas even if its just outside your ability.

so I noticed you didn't mention using C minor blues over the C, is that because you're getting into G Phrygian tones? You would think the fifth at least you could use D minor because then you've got G Dorian. You seemed to stay on the root G minor blues scale over the 4 and 5, unlike when you're using major scales... why is that?

Hey Jason, thank you so much for this incredible breakdown. I'm a self taught guitarist and I've been doing gigs recently that really want me to step out as a lead guitarist. I have to admit, my crux is solos and I've been trying to work on that. Solos feel like a momentary thing when you're trying to make up something on the spot, especially in front of a crowd! I'm not necessarily a country guitar player but this and many of your videos filled a lot of gaps in my pursuit of music! Always learning...Thanks again.

Man , you are such a great guitar player and know so many styles which I like so much. I don't think I have heard on RU-vid a better guitar player in the styles you present . There must be a lot of ( famous ) bands who want you to play with them. So , do you only teach or do you also studio work or/and playing in bands ? ( from the Netherlands ) 👋👋👋

Thank you for those kind words. I’ve spent my whole life as a performing and studio guitarist. Lots of touring and lots of session work. But I’ve been teaching and taking teaching seriously since I was 19 years old. I’ve leaned into it a lot more over this last year because there’s just not much money in the music business anymore

@@JasonLoughlinMusic One question : do you also have lessons about your right hand technique ? ( with pick and fingers the same time ) It makes a ton of difference to play those country lick in a faster way .
