Today i became my pair of Gauchos. Same like in the Video. I like the Leather. Real thick Leather but super soft. I wear thevthe whole Day. No pain. Like Sneakers. Great Boots. Much better then my MIE Docs.
I like both. I think the solovairs leather is a bit better. But overall im a docs guy. I like the shape more. Solovair years ago had more a doc martens shape and the doc martens original sole which i prefered. Since they changed to their own design im all for the Doc Martens. Nice Video. I would be happy to see a Update.
Thanks for the video! Very helpfull. Consider those boots for the coming winter. Two questions: How often do you put Dubbin on them and how long do they stay dark after the conditioning? And even more important: What about the update video on the boots? 🙂
Update: so I’ve had my Solovair boots for about 6-7 months now. I’m not a daily boot wearer. I rock Vans regularly. Usually keep boot wearing to weekends/nights out. Over the weekend I rocked my Solovairs at a NIN concert. Lots of walking/standing/rocking the fuck out. By the end of the night my feet were in pain. Definitely not the most comfortable boots. The soles are hard with not much cushion. Somewhat punishing for my feet after an hour or two of wear. Tonight I wore my MIE Docs out to a party. I gotta say, SO much more comfortable. If you’re looking for a bigger stiffer boot, the Solovairs are great. But if you want something that’s a bit more flexible and forgiving then I would consider the MIE Docs.
@@scjiwfoewmsxc 100% yes. They’ve broken in very nicely! The Solovair boots are very comfortable. I think they have actually surpassed the MIE Docs in comfort. I guess that’s the crux of it right there…the Solovairs break in over time and slowly become more supple and comfortable. These are great boots!
@@BrokenMachine85 Jumping in 4 months later to say that the general rule with boots/shoes is that if they are comfortable right out of the box, then they won't be comfortable after several months. If they are stiff and uncomfortable at first, then after some wear they will be way more comfortable and last way longer.
can you provide some sort of update on how the leather has distressed over the last year? that's a selling point for me, im at a toss up between oxblood or cherry standard or the burgundy gauchos - i like the color of the cherry but like the idea of the gauchos distressing overtime as they mention on the site
Nice seeing the Docs and Solovairs side by side. I have a question, how do they compare size wise? I have the MIE Docs which fit me, and were thinking about getting some Solovairs, but couldn't work out their sizing... The Solovairs in your video look substantially bigger than the Docs, but maybe that's just the camera angle... I have pretty skinny feet, so I'm concerned that my feet would be swimming in the Solovairs, but then I hear everyone raving about them... ugh, first world problems.
Yeah, the Solovairs feel bigger on my feet than the Docs do. Both of these pairs of boots are size 11. I wouldn’t have wanted to go any smaller on the Solovairs because then my toes would be crunched. But as far as width goes the Solovairs are just more roomy. Hope this helps.
@@BrokenMachine85 Thanks for your response, it does help. So just to clarify, would you say the length of the Solovairs are the same as MIE Docs, the difference is just the volume of the toe box and the width? Or do you find the length in the Solovairs slightly longer too?
I would probably say the Solovairs are slightly longer, but not a whole lot. Minimal amount. But the boots in general do feel a bit more roomy in the width/toe box.
Nice video, good vibes. Just wanted to throw out there that according to what I could find online, Solovair is indeed better leather even though made by Englad arent bad and in fact both boots are corrected just that Solovair has a very lighter finish. Hope that helps and enjoyed the video.
I agree with this. The Gaucho leather on the Solovair boots definitely seems like “nicer” leather than the highly corrected Dr Martens. I like both brands, but I so think Solovair wins for leather quality. Also, thank you for watching and commenting!
