@@kunalbhadiyadra3297 I had a lot of sucess by filing the casted ingot and sanding it till 1000 grit sandpaper . This is technique I use for open ingot molds. Dont bother filing and sanding all sides , just the top part that was exposed to air . What happens is that the part of the ingot exposed to air , while still molten absorbs a lot of oxigen , and it forms in an uneaven surface , small pits and micro cracks , this are 9 out of 10 the things that form bigger cracks later on in the rolling process . I also leave the flame on top of the ingot after I cast it , just to reduce as much the exposure to air while its molten , after it solidifies you can turn of the flame , its a 5 sec process , ju dont have to keep the flame on longer than that. But I found that like this I produce a lot smoother top side of the ingots , which reduces my time and cost in filing and sanding the metal . Hope it helps . BTW for some reason unknown to me casting and working with 14 kt is a lot more forgiving and doesnt create problems when rolling , but 18 kt is a lot more problematic for me . Dont know why that is

When you pour the molten gold into the hot mold, with a small amount of gearbox oil, keep the flame on it till it solidifies, the flame stops oxygen being pulled from the atmosphere into the cooling gold , no porosity no cracking. Cracking in gold usually comes from poor prep of the lemmel to begin with, and I don’t quench, let it air cool.

Some type of heat stick same material as melt cup for the stick the simply heat the rod and cure it same as the melt dish when u prepare ya melt dish from new with borax powder
