After having been uploaded for nearly five years, a major music company decided they owned some of the background music for the film and made two separate copyright claims. After checking, I discovered that not only was the claim true, but S.D. Burman had used the actual recordings of that music. I edited the audio to remove those claimed parts and then uploaded it again . This time there were four new copyright claims to more background music. So, I removed that, as well as some remaining background music from the same source. This time no claims. You'll notice it as there an odd silence between the dialog for maybe 10 minutes of the film. I apologize to any affected by the removals. All original views and comments are gone now.
I owe ashok48393 from here on RU-vid a debt of gratitude also, for pointing out I had neglected to get the aspect ratio of the film correct, and asked if I could fix the bad audio for the main song. So I made a new copy of the film, uploaded it and deleted the earlier version. I apologize to those that made comments now forever lost, or who may have linked to the film, but this one really is better.
From time to time you might notice odd things going on with the video - a frame held for a second or two, or morphing between one frame and one a few seconds later. These are cases
where the video source 'rolled' or was corrupted or something else strange was going on and it was my feeble attempt to make it look better. In addition there was a period of a minute or so where there was film decomposition and the frame moving all around. I decided not to try and fix it all, believing I would only make it look worse,
Then there was the audio. 1-200 pops and clicks were removed, but from time to time the dialog was close to being drowned out by loud static noise. It can be removed during the silences but is very difficult to remove during dialog and songs without distorting the dialog. I did the best I could but some remains. Not often and not for very long.
The film is, just as 1956's Chori Chori, heavily influenced by Frank Capra's US film, 'It Happened One Night'. But, where those two are very funny comedies, for the most part Solva Saal is a crime drama, and quite a good one in my opinion.
An heiress runs off with her boyfriend and a valuable family necklace. Except the boyfriend turns out to be up to no good. A newspaper reporter on the lookout for a story comes across them during a train ride, notices some odd things about their situation, and decides to investigate further.

My words:
Indian film copyright (including video, dialog, music, lyrics, songs) lasts for sixty years and any film and its songs released more than sixty years ago is in the public domain. No extensions, no renewals, no exceptions. This film is no longer protected by copyright.
