A quadratic equation is of the form ax²+bx+c = 0
Not every quadratic equation has real roots, or distinct roots. It all depends on the discriminant of the equation, D.
D = b² - 4ac
If D is greater than 0, the equation has real and distinct roots.
If D = 0, the equation has equal roots
If D is less than 0, it has imaginary roots.
Finally the roots is calculated by x = (-b ± √D) / (2a)

It's interface has better text and multiple line screen, which lets you calculate easily without getting confused. Although, fx-991 EX is better, it can be a bit costlier, though still not costly enough.
