I really have gained a tremendous amount of respect for Grandfather Nurgle- er, i mean Nergal, over the last few years, as a person and as a musician. His dedication to his work is extremely obvious, and especially admirable when you consider that he lives in a country where this dedication could land him in prison. He could easily move somewhere that offers more freedom, and IMO it takes undeniable courage to remain in Poland. He's also pretty adept at Trolling when he wants to be. Musically speaking, he has proven himself incredibly diverse and willing to follow his creative muse where it leads. With excellent results, might I add. I'm of course referring to the non-Behemoth musical project Me & That Man, which he helms, and which is without a doubt worth diving into ASAP if you haven't yet. All 3 albums, especially the 2 most recent ones are absolutely phenomenal, personally I'm a way bigger fan of that side of his music than I am Behemoth. If heavy music had to have one single "ambassador", someone who truly represents everything that metal is supposed to stand for, Adam "Nergal" Darski would be my nominee.
That's a short train of thoughts! Performing with fire needs planning - you can be sure that this wasn't done in the spur of the moment - so everything in his vicinity is either fire-proof or at least resistant to flames.

@@rickmaher4283 That is true, but that is in the past, and this is the current present. Behemoth does these type of things for fun and amusement, while Catholicism had an actual reason to do so. (Although it wasn't really a good one.)

I was like 15 years old at Mayhem fest, front row they played, I felt something hit my face, Nergal spit a good majority of blood in my face haha this fire thing is a lot cleaner
The only thing corny about this is the face paint, the face paint and masks and any goofy change my appearance to feel like a badass stuff is just weird to me but these dudes get a pass because their music is so good. Lyrically too, this guy is one of the better lyricists I’ve heard

They try so hard to be edgy with the anti christian stuff due to it not being their native religion, totally clueless that their ancestors literally came out of the middleast and north Africa and bringing it with them into Europe lol. But at least this make up and costume looks better than most other black metal bands.
These guys have every right to be against Christianity. Like yeah if it’s too edgy to you don’t listen to it but at least it’s true art. I’d rather have a son who listens to this and actually worships Satan than a son who listens to rap music simps for women and does copious amounts of Xanax
