In this tutorial, we explain how to define and solve optimization problems in MATLAB by using the fmincon() function. First, we explain how to solve a simple least squares problem by using the fmincon() function. Then, we explain how to solve a more complex nonlinear constrained optimization problem in MATLAB. We use an interior point method to solve the problem. The optimization problem can also be solved by using the trust region reflective method.
