i have the same problem but mine is quite different. it's okay, i can hear sounds and if someone calls it rings, the thing is, my screen is black, but have some blue, and orange and red lines on it when i press the lock screen. i can make a few icon selections if i remember where it's located. the screen is 98% black not 100%. what should i do :(

I removed my cover for this same problem. My iphone 5 is working like a champ now! I suggest that you remove your cover and try it before opening the plate.

Mine only started turning dark or purple after I got my screen replaced. It would turn purple maybe once a day then I'd turn it off and back on and it would be normal. I dropped it and it started ghost typing uncontrollably. Then the white lines appeared across my WHOLE screen, but it stopped ghost typing and the screen works fine, I can just barely see it. Could I take it back to the store and demand them to fix it? Cause I know I will screw up doing this

Do you think i should do this to my 5c? It has grey lines vertcally that eventually turn purple. The screen is unresponsive, but only sometimes. When my phone dies and turns back on it doesn't have a problem for a couple of hours then goes back to the lines and color.

I'm having a similar issue with my 5s. Do you think it could be the same issue? I've done repairs on my 5, and 5s, but never in my 5c. I've noticed that the only noticeable difference between my 5 and 5s, is the home button/fingerprint connections. So I know to take an extra step to detach that connection prior to working on the screen's connections. I did not do anything damaging or unusual to my phone. It was in my jacket's pocket for several hours after it died while using my flash light. I charged it to about half way and then took it off the charger. When looking for my battery level, prior to removal from the charger, my screen was fine. I put it back in my pocket, went back outside to finish my project about 10 minutes later. I grabbed my phone and swiped up on my screen to activate the flash light again & my screen looked very odd. Like the resolution is faded and vertical vague lines going down the bottom 5/6 of my screen. I'm wondering if it could be the temp afire drop? I've been working outside for hours and it is pretty cold. It was fine while indoors and began to malfunction moments following the temperature drop. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, your video is amazing, very detailed, and easy to understand. You were able to make this challenge become easily possible with your step by step instructions from being something that many would imagine to be extremely complicated. Thanks for sharing.

Adjusting the third socket a few times definitely helped with the lines, I could tell because the first time it was incredibly thick white lines that eventually disappeared after reconnecting it a few more times. However, even following how you describe to put it in correctly, there are still faint lines, and an unresponsive slide touch. Is the only thing to do is keep trying to get that third cable into perfect alignment? How would you know if it isn't a "simple" fix like this? Like, if there's something worse going on with the phone? If the pins and such are broken on or underneath the third cable giving it the bad connection what are some other ways besides brushing it gently (I think I saw that in a different video) to help this connection? Thanks so much for this video! I hope I can find a solution. Only thing I want to do at this point is take the lock code off so I can back up the phone and save everything on it. Anyway, I hope to get a response!

As to the P5 star Pentalobe screwdriver, I ordered one but it was wrong, wouldn't fit the two screws in the case. Make sure it is NOT the 1.2mm star pentalobe, but it should be the 0.8mm star pentalobe!

hey, so i followed the steps - but when i got to the 'unscrew the 4 screws for the screen ' part, only 1 would come off - so after 10 minutes of trying, i gave up, put it back together, but when i tried to turn it on nothing happens, and when i stick it in a charger, it will just vibrate twice, nothing, vibrate twice, and repeat, while nothing comes on the screen, any ideas? is my phone broken?

So, on Friday my brother dropped my iPhone 5. The screen cracked and a little bit of the screen was missing from the top but it still worked perfectly fine for the rest of the night and on Saturday. When I woke up this morning, half of the screen was black and the other half had vertical lines of many colors on it. I can still see when I get notifications (although I cant see the whole thing due to the fact that half of the screen is black) and I occasionally can get the phone unlocked although it's unresponsive 99% of the time. When it's unlocked, its like the phone has a mind of its own. It calls people, opens apps, activates Siri, etc all by itself. As of right now, the flashlight keeps turning on by itself and the alarm keeps going off and I cant turn either of them off of course. I've tried just turning it off a million times but as I mentioned, the phone is unresponsive. Do you think it's just time for a new phone? Or should I try this method and if it doesn't work, take it to a professional?

I cracked my phone and when I picked it up, there were millions of lines all over the phone. Also when I try to swipe, it doesn't move at all. Not even once. It's frozen. I did what's in this video, I removed all three cables and cleaned/brushed all three of them, then I put them back in and screed the shield tight and put the bolts on there original location and it's still frozen.! I need help!. Can you help me?.

Hi , I dropped my iPhone 5c the other day. And has cracked . It also when I turn it on , the touch screen wouldn't work and it also has these lines. By using this way ,will it work still, even thought I have cracked my screen and the touch isn't working?
