You are a genius, Cattarina, for being the only person on the entire internet to clearly explain what the hell is going on and why there is a problem! I'm a professional engineer and have rebuilt car and jet engines, designed and built custom CNC machines, operate my own machine shop with lathes, mills, etc, can fix just about anything BUT I could not figure out what was going on with my daughter's 505 and had no luck determining what the problem was... exasperating and humbling. FINALLY, after two hours of tinkering and subsequent searching the web, I stumbled upon *your* video showing the issue and now the entire situation is stupifyingly clear--- 20/20 hindsight and all that. Thnx for doing what everyone else could (would?) not: showing in a simple manner what the basic issue/problem is. Very well done! And thanks very, very much. :-)

Holy sh*t! You just fixed my machine for me. A $1,600 machine that's only 2 months old, and and I was freaking out. Plus I love your "this black thing", "the pink thing" terminology. Something I can relate to.

Yes Ty Ty Ty I purchased my machine awhile ago I just took it out the box of course I decided I wanted to make face masks a friend showed me how to set it up n all when I took it home I couldn’t no longer catch the bobbin I was so frustrated I traveled with it anyways as I was determined to fix it I came across your video and yes it worked! My goodness I really am thankful for this video. I had the same issue of bobbin thread not getting pulled. I left the school uniform alterations until last moment. Next day is first day for my girl in reception and night before I started to alter her elder sister's uniform. It was 8:15pm I sat for the job but could not actually do the 15 min job until 11:15pm till I discovered your video. So many may thanks. 💐💐💐

This is definitely the problem on my machine, but I cannot seem to hold the wheel to get it back in time. Any advice?

Thank you so much. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and why it wouldn't work. When I opened it up, the little piece it's supposed to catch on was on the opposite side. 180 degrees from where it should have been. You're a life saver!

You are a savior. I was literally crying cause my machine kept getting jammed and then next thing you know, my thread ain’t catching the bobbin! Note: the bottom plate is incredibly hard to unscrew.

Both my 1924 Singer electric sewing machine and my1953 Premier sewing machines' timing went out of whack when I attempted to sew a new zipper onto a coat. I'll try your method , and see what happens. Fortunately, my sister is a seamstress, and she can likely get those machines back into time if everything else fails. Edit: I tried your method on the 1924 Singer electric sewing machine this morning, and it did pick up the bobbin thread. In fact, the machine even appeared to sew too. Great! In the meantime, I'll see about getting my sister over here, and have her get the both sewing machines back in time. Thank you! Update: I reexamined both of those sewing machines this morning, and found that there was nothing wrong with either of them. Actually, I believe that the problem was specifically due to the new needles that I installed at the time, and they were probably manufactured in China.

Thank you so much! Wish I had watched this 1st, solved the issue in a minute! Well explained. Fixed my singer6235 using your technique (held the steal bobbin frame in place with a screw driver while turning the handwheel to get the needle where it should be.

I have a different modwl probably because if i hold the pink things it would probably snap a gear ⚙️

And can you explain what to do if the pink thing spins as you turn the wheel, because I can’t hold it down still otherwise it will break. mine is a black metal instead of a pink plastic idk if that matters

My sewing machine picks up the top thread so the hook seems to be in time with the needle but when I place the bobbin /bobbin case in...the needle hits the case. I adjusted with the plate off to make the hook and needle and bobbin in sync while hand turning but the bobbin and needle thread get jammed together and lifts the bobbin out of the case. I want to take it to a technician but all repair shops in my area are closed due to Covid-19. Can you help or point me in the right direction?

How do you put the black thing on at 2:11. I put it back on but the needle has bad timing there and goes against the plastic.

I think mine might be an older model, the pice thats supposed to pick it up is metal, and when i hold it down to try fix it, it just stops spinning all together, the needle picks up the thread one time and doest catch after that, not sure wjat to do at this point

Thank you so much for this video!! I did not know you can simply hold the spinning thing and turn the big wheel without stripping gears. So I kept opening the machine adjusting it where the gears locks together, was driving me nuts because it seemed to be ever so slightly out of sync and causing it to skip stiches or where the needle get caught on the outside of the round spinning thing. Huge thanks!

Thank u. I also had to play around with not pulling the needle thread back to tight as it was kissing the hook pick up. Also testing with the pressure from above on bobbin. Make sure to align bobbin with horizontal line across machine x
