Very much enjoyed this detailed conversation on real world problems/solutions for those of us in the EV world who aren't home owners (I rent my house) and are wanting to see greater EV adoption for our friends who live in multi-family housing, but are currently locked out. Keep up the good work, guys.

@@LivingElectricPodcast You're welcome. Last summer, several of us EV drivers here in Tucson, Arizona, were advising city government on how to update building codes for EV readiness. Developers of multi-family housing were part of these discussions, hedging support of anything that was going to cost them money, or making them buy hard wired EVSEs that would sit around unused and break before they would get any of those future EV-owning tenants we told them were on the way. The idea of "dumb" outlets also didn't appeal to the developers. The compromise we might have ended up with would have been empty conduit and "someday" promises of finished EVSE installations. In the middle of these negotiations I found out about Orange and brought it up at one of the Zoom conferences. A link to your earlier interview with Nick and Joseph was one of the things I shared with city officials and developers. Knowing that a product like this is out there is something I think allowed the City Council & Mayor to pass its EV readiness plan with at least a modicum of acceptance from the developer coalition. David's load sharing hardware is product I'm finding out about here for the first time and it looks like a real problem solver. Not everyone is going to be able to budget a SPAN panel while adding an EVSE to an existing 200A breaker box that is already tapped out . . . especially as we're also asking people to electrify everything else in the house to get off the methane. Good stuff.

Where would the Electrician learn about the process for the install. I have a new company and have been down many rabbit holes to find info on what the steps are. I haven’t found much on what needs to happen through permits, work within the electrical room, how to pitch it to the stratas and where to direct them so they can learn more as well. Any info will be helpful

I'd recommend talking to any industry piers that have gone through the process. I know a bit going through it on some projects, but every site is different, has different permits, etc that need completed. - Alex
