The blind test rider said barely and just maybe Good result but you need to be searching for actual power if you want to compete - thats what yamaha knew shifting some power up
Shawn is a fast rider who's style is to "clutch it" and stay high in the RPM's. There isn't much difference at the top rpms with those mods, so the power benefits are mostly/only noticed on the bottom end, when the clutch isn't being used. It was a massive difference.
It better be for the cost...my point stands. If you want to win races you will want more peak power. The yamaha has a perception of being fast via the star program but the production bike leaves a lot to be desired in the power department. It has had the best "delivery" of middle of the road actual power. @@Quadz10
I’m wondering if a twin air powerflow kit (screenless) and a tweak on the power tuner app could get it in the same ball park without modding and buying a vortex
Jamie has to be rolling in dough at this point especially with videos like this pouring business in for those that can afford it and are looking for that extra edge
It’s weird other magazines said it still had great bottom end and when they put the map to aggressive they said it was exciting! But again no 2 bikes are exactly the same.
Radiators bend like lead. Real soft. very pliable to get back into shape after a good crash. The bars and clamps can easily be straightened out too. thats a huge plus for me as my 16 year old gets faster and faster. Nice job Yamaha
I feel like cable or hydro with a clutch should be personal preference. Yamaha is doing it right with making it and option. If you want hydro, go to gytr and purchase it. Make the buyer choose not the media outlets saying you need it. I remember air forks being the big craze 10 years ago...
Weird how the new kx450 has a problem with bottom end power and the air box is needed to be modified. I hope this isnt a new trend for all new bikes coming out. Dumbing them down
@@panic-revv85 not really....the older models sound better . Like 2010 4T had good sound, now. restricting the sound and how they do this makes horrible sound
Idk what these so called “Bike boys” are hollering but the 2024 is a beast shit if you think you can build or whatever better then go get on the damn assembly lines lmao 😑🤷🏾
8:05 Wait. Did you say "cancel because of the rain?" Wow have times changed. Do they cancel your races out west because of rain, too? Over here in New England we'd get laughed at for even suggesting such a thing. You west coast boys need to double check your BVD's to make sure you still have a pair before you get on those bikes. 🤣
I run ultra distance in the rain ,I would love to do moto in the rain as well but not all people think alike.they close the tracks here in socal then again they do get flooded. I salute you guys for having balls and discipline.
So you’ve got to mod the air box and the whole ecu to land in the same place as the 23 was… I’ll stick with a ktm… (written like a ktm hater in ktm comments lol) also those conditions are like an euro sandy ish track 80% of the year
Funny thing is this is the only magazine that has said they didn’t like the bottom end! Others said they loved it and when they changed the map to aggressive a couple of Honda guys said it was like a 350.. heard that numerous times. Mine is supposed to be here in a few weeks.. can’t wait
@@mxr248 not listening to any magazines but using my own mind, if you make the chain more durable it’s heavier & thicker therefore more drag & less response and change nothing else therefore the result is less bottom end power & feel maybe this is the only true magazine out there how can it feel like a 350 if it has less than the 23 it doesn’t make sense…
@@E63s_Scott absolutely wrong with your timing chain theory buddy.😂 you act like they threw in a drive chain! If you think I’m wrong go ask Mitch Payton! He said the same thing about the Yamaha! The timing chain doesn’t nor did it change the low end of the Yamaha! Designing air flow can though. Plus the fact only one magazine said anything about low end. Most everyone has said it’s still amazing. Just take the thing off of linear power map and put it to aggressive. Huge difference. It’s more of the mapping as well. Even some RU-vid motocross guys that ride Honda, KTM and other brands said the Yamaha was amazing and they had no complaints whatsoever so ever. The Honda guy said he’s going blue now! So again it’s not the timing chain. Even Mosiman corrected himself after saying that stupid crap. Mitch Payton told him the same thing. The timing chain would not do that.. 🤦♂️
It is all about money, it is impossible that the YZ is the best bike on the market, air filter problems, low HP and the frame isn’t the same as old good days, that air box looks terrible and makes the bike looks ugly, and mostly importante the Yamaha engines are not reliable they will blow up, but you know behind the scenes there is always someone paying to be promoted.
Yamaha needs to add a secondary throttle plate so they can achieve higher velocities at low rpm and still get that over-rev at the top of the RPM range.
In my humble opinion the right guy on the right bike with the right suspension and offset settings will do good . As the infamous sgt. Schultz once said I know nothingg .
'24 250F is nice and all, but I'm preoccupied with the fact I can't get the '24 YZ250 2 stroke I ordered back in November. Was told it would be in by Dec. 20th, then Dec. 27th, now not until January 19th! Is Yamaha having issues or something?
Yeah no offence but l had a 2015 yzf 250 and l thought it was as ergonomic as a gum boot but the motor was a very typical Yamaha motor strong and reliable and way to noisy as l couldn't use ear plugs
Isn’t the screen on the air filter cage designed to resist against back fire? Which mixed with the alcohol vapors of the filter could cause a fire. So now we are just throwing fuel into the equation in that same area now? Seems sketch.
@@dandlugolecki3408 the alcohol in the air filter oil evaporates once it’s poured out of the bottle and onto the filter, leaving just the sticky oil. The material the inside of the filter is made out of is fire proof
So best bike or the year huh but has so many problems can’t order shit for it and breaks after 40 hours of real use…. Another great shootout report from mxa 😂 meanwhile Honda ktm husky and gas gas even Suzukis still going strong 😂 I’d mention kawi but those pieces of shit fall apart every moto
