Haven't seen other videos showcasing the non-drummyness of the Pulsar, love it!

So glad you loved it! 🧡 And it was a very much needed video: I almost never used it as a drum, and many people's questions were piling up quickly about the -mostly gentle- sounds I was getting from it :)

I am so glad you found it useful! It's one of the things I like the most about the synth community: we are all learning, but we can all be teaching a bit too, from our own perspective. Have fun with your Pulsar 🧡

12:17 "I've trashed so many recordings..." This was the sentence I needed to hear. I've done the same, and no matter how quickly I can recover, the CV touch plates are going to go back to pitch much more reliably every time. Slick...
@Dexba
@Dexba Год назад
Indeed! And I know many people just say "keep a recorder rolling when you're using SOMA gear", but if I am making a video, or trying to build a coherent climax, that doesn't work, so sometimes we need a pinch of reliability 😁

@Dexba
@Dexba 2 года назад
@@mundelator I was trying to work on modulations, and I think it will take more time than I expected. Each voice, for seemingly no reason, reacts to incoming midi and other signals in its own way and I am still looking for a reliable way to modulate the BD or any voice. And by “reliable” I mean something predictable and repeatable, otherwise we would all be happy with the SHAOS and the LFO. But in the process I discovered how beautiful sounds the feedback on the reverb, so yeah 😄

Hey I read all the comments and want to point out a few things I have discovered. I have a Berhinger 2600 and Dave Smith Pro 2 very close to my Pulsar 23, and I send CV out from both the 2600 and Pro2 into the CV jacks on the Pulsar. That opens the door to an INSANE amount of modulation and sounds. It takes it to an entirely different level. Also, there are multi inputs on the 2600 and also you can buy these multi input/ouput "hubs" (they look like stars or toy jacks , like the kind that girls play with when they were kids) so you can combine CV, like LFO's or sequencer CV and then have the wild combinations go to the pulsar. I have made a few vids, but not on that topic. I have not made any tutorials at all , and maybe I will. But with external CV added to the pulsar, it sounds like a full modular, and sound like much more than the 4 voices. especially when CV'ing the effects block on the Pulsar. If any of you are interested in seeing / hearing what I'm talking about, let me know. OH ya, I also send the CV out of the pulsar into the 2600 and it takes that synth to an entirely different level as well.
@Dexba
@Dexba 2 года назад
Yeah, that the way we should be using these instruments! Unfortunately, as for now, I am completely out of anything resembling modular gear, not even a CV jack in sight, and that's also why I stopped recording the video after this one, the one about "connections and modulations", the most requested topic. I felt like I would have missed out on so much without some CV/modular capability that it wasn't worth to upload. And CV is definitely the way to go, because after intensive testing, the 4 MIDI mod connectors on the left are not reliable for anything fixed or programmed, and that's completely against what I would be using MIDI for, so CV is the way, and I really hope I will be able to start integrating modular gear in my setup again. But for now, I am broke AF 🧡

This sounds really amazing! Unfortunately my HHT cutoff is just doing what sounds like record needle type pops until I get it past 12:00 and then it's too high of a pitch to be useful. I'm wondering if maybe there is something wrong with my Pulsar and I need to contact them.
@Dexba
@Dexba 2 года назад
That's unfortunate! Have you tried rolling off the resonance a little bit? And remember to turn down the Pitch and the Warp, otherwise the oscillator hissing will ruin your clean filter sound! Anyway, thank you so much! And if you want to troubleshoot the problem together or just want to chat about Pulsar, just send me a message @dexbasynth on Instagram 🧡
@cooperdeats406
@cooperdeats406 2 года назад
@@Dexba Hi Dexba, thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I continued to play around with it more and just can't seem to get it to work. I checked out Vlads HHT video to see if maybe the machine was malfunctioning, but everything seemed to work well following along with his video. If I push the tune up a bit, I can get a nice roll off with the filter, but at that point it's introducing the noise from the generator. I know that each of these are individually made and each have their quirks, so I'm thinking that mine just doesn't want to produce any sort of clean filter sound? (at least not until it's hitting like 2KHZ) Just one of those things! I really appreciate the instagram offer, but I'm not on that platform. I am on S.R. Wilsons discord, not sure if you're on that or not, but could be a good place to chat if you are. Thanks again for the response and have a great weekend!

Unfortunate that you used reverb/delay for this tutorial…. would have been much better to hear the pure tones without fx; easier to differentiate the subtle changes.
@Dexba
@Dexba 2 года назад
I would generally agree with you, but I think for this specific case nothing got lost in the reverb, and I suspect it would have been a bit too annoying without it. But in any case, thank you for you feedback, and I will improve with the next video :)
@Kkidzz
@Kkidzz 2 года назад
@@Dexba Not trying to diminish in anyway what you’re presenting. I’m just sooo sick of the overuse of heavy handed reverb. I love hearing the raw tones…I can fill in/imagine the reverb on my own. I’ve been on the fence getting a P23….all I’ve heard is mostly harsh/industrial tones which is great but subtle/less is more with me these days. Keep going…looking forward to more of your vids.
