Shown without an aperture plate in the projector, so some things outside of the normal projection frame are visible, including part of the soundtrack. The theater spliced the leader out-of-frame by one perforation, presumably to shift the lower titles onto the screen when cropped to 1.85:1.

This is the Intermission Snipe from the Sno-King Drive-In in Lynnwood, Washington in the Late 1960s/Early 1970s.

0:00-0:35 To our YT viewers in the U.K., that was a snippet of one of the themes for the BBC's Grandstand.

If they made an out of frame splice, it would not have been intentional. The film is composed to be projected at 1.85:1 natively, and all of the text will show properly at 1.85:1 when the film is in-frame.

Yeah, it would've looked seamless on the screen that way.

I've never seen this countdown clock before. I wonder if it was unique to this theater.
