Some Alco/MLW locomotives at work in Pennsylvania mostly. Lovely exhaust sounds. Shot 2016-2020

You’ll see mostly Alco/MLW locomotives from the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad around the Scranton, Pennsylvania area. In this brief video, you will see a wide variety of power. RS3’s, RS18U’s, M630’s, C636’s, RS32’s, C420’s, etc. What is nice is that these locomotives are still running today.

If you like Alco locomotives, that Scranton yard adjacent to Steamtown is heaven on earth. You can visit that yard and the station platform and video diesel movements for hours and a nice pedestrian ramp takes you for an aerial view on the way to the mall. That 414 Yellowjacket is a treasure.

Tim, the former DL&W is my favorite "fallen flag" predecessor railroad despite my living in NYCR and LIRR territory here in the city. I would love to railfan the former mainline with you at some point, especially once the cutoff is reactivated!

This reminds me of when I worked in NYC IBEW Elevators.... Those old school OTIS, Westinghouse, Haughton & A.B.SEE(sounds like something from the Three Stooges lol) machinery and electronics, that when maintained could last a century.

For Century series the first number is axles, next two are hp. So 420 like LV 411, is 4 axles, 2000hp. For RS 11/ 32 figure 1800hp. RS 3 are 1600 hp. Same applies for 6 axle Century. If its an M, means built by Montreal Locomotive Work. 3642 is the only C636 existing.
