I love how you didn't find any words to commemorate your dislike for the second book of poetry you read xD Also, CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING PUBLISHED! I can't wait to read what you have in stock 😁 I've always been a guy who feels as though his sentimentalities are more proficiently poured in the form of prose, but only a few days ago I found myself weaving an idea in the form of poetry, and I was so proud of it! Your incessant praising of poetry and its rejuvenating essence has compelled me to venture into its world and give it a go.
TheBookVillain I'm so glad you're giving poetry a go - I don't know where I'd be without it. I keep a diary as well, but poems seem to get my more intense emotions and sort them out in my head for me! X
Congrats on all the stuff happening with your poetry! It's great that you've made the decision to go freelance especially since you said you are taking a year out of school, it will keep you busy.
Yeah, I think Clive James has Leukaemia. He's originally from Australia and I think one of our most well known poets :) Wow that's so amazing, congrats on your poetry being published! :D
Shygirl Vlogs I appreciate his style, I just didn't find it beneficial to my personal mental state :/ Thank you! I'm so excited it's so lovely to have some poems published xx
Stairs and Whispers sounds great, and I've heard Amy recommend it too. I think I am going to order it now! I can't wait to read more of your poems - you are very talented. x
Gem You will enjoy Stairs and Whispers - completely changed my perspective and gave me some belonging! Thank you for being so very lovely about my poetry - I want to read some of your short stories so we might have to do a swap there 😘😜 xx
Congratulations on being published, that's fantastic! I've been looking forward to 'Stairs and Whispers' since I found out about it. I work in a D/deaf school and have been trying to find books with D/deaf characters or by D/deaf authors that my students can more relate to, so it sounds like a fantastic one to add to the list for our library. Are there signed videos, too, or VV performances?
lykaiosreads There are certain symbols next to the poems that tell you how they can be accessed. I'm fairly certain that a couple of the poems were signed, and then the ones on RU-vid had closed captions. If you are looking for D/deaf poetry I am fairly certain that the most recent issue of Magma poetry magazine was called the D/Deaf issue, although I don't know if it has been published yet! Xx
lykaiosreads Also just found this. The UK's first sign language poetry slam - awesome! www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/disability-40670284/uk-s-first-sign-language-poetry-slam 💗📚
Hi Hannah! I've recently bought Stairs & Whispers I've watched some of the vids accompanying it. It also looks like it's bringing poetry to life as art... The audio makes the reading such an interactive experience and is so helpful. I feel lucky to have met the editors at the recent Ledbury Poetry Festival. It's soooo great to hear the poems gave you feeling of belonging, it's wonderful when art can give that to a soul... P.S. Really interesting article: #PoetryPrescription Telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/19/prescribe-poetry-patients-reduce-burden-nhs-gps-advised/ (Depends on the type of poetry but when you find one that resonates with your soul it can give a bit of healing and comfort.)
If 'Nine Arches Press' are meant to be good publishers then why do they publish so much absolutely SHIT poetry! Bring back William McGonagall! All is forgiven!
