Thanks for sharing your week! Happy belated birthday Grace!!! I hope you have a great year! 🌻🎂🌻 Best wishes on finding affordable hay. 3 years ago I had to buy hay 500 miles away in another state. It was a difficult year! It's really not fair to the farmer how the auction method goes. We're the only part to the cycle of beef production that doesn't get a chance to name our price. Garden looks great, as well as the Farm Store. I wish we had a way to have a store. Jeff's doing a great job, and I know he'll be missed when he goes back home. Keep up the great work and I pray everything gets better soon! 🙏

The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw those hogs was "dang, they need to go to town" ! And I know pretty much nothing about hogs-thank you very much-after a 800 lb sow like to climb over a fence at me (and it was a SHORT fence) when I was 13 y/o. Anyway-keep checking NE for hay, here in the SE corner of the state we have had so MUCH rain that I've wished to share with you guys, you may find a deal. If it's not been downpoured on...not sure what NE Nebraska has. Keep on keepin' on. And bless you and the gang for the help you give to the community--the BEST food!! :)

I just happened upon your channel two days ago and I have been binge watching so many videos. I have just fell in love with your calves and pigs, and even the chickens. I am a country girl, but y’all really have an awesome job, and home life in my opinion. Much more work than I expected and you have given me a different outlook on the price of my meat that I buy from Butcher Box. I heard you say something in a video about trying that. The meat I buy at the store vs butcher box can’t compare. I personally want to thank you for treating your animals like I do my dogs. I used to breed boxers , and I thought that was a lot of work. Well for me it was. I still own 7 boxers and they are treated like children. No more breeding for now, until I feel better. Just wanted to drop you a line and wanted to say hey to you and your family

Have you heard of the fodder grow systems? It’s sprouting barley or other grain in a grow room on shelves and hydroponic system for watering and grow lights. 1 pound of grain sprouts into 5 pounds of fodder. There’s a bunch of videos here on RU-vid and might be cheaper than buying hay this year. Depending on grain price.

Yes. Pretty expensive start up cost. Interesting financials on it to
@drul27

@@OurWyomingLife I am looking at systems myself for just a 50 cow herd. Ready to go self contained systems are expensive but I found cheaper ones on Alibaba.com that ship out of China. Just set it up in a building I have already for heat and water. Only downfall is getting the grain and having to go through the process of setting and soaking grain for the trays then hauling out to the cows daily. I’ll attach the link anyways. Not sure if RU-vid will let it go through. Check out this product on Alibaba App Automatic hydroponics microgreen grow system fodder tray

The thing is Wyoming has had no rain. New York has had alot of rain so the farmers here have to do hay in between the rain. Just yesterday gave a farmer a ride to his truck. He showed me one small area where he mowed was so wet he couldn't bale it. But we do have more hay than out west. Don't even know of anyone that has even got to a 2nd cutting yet. Why can't neighbors of all working backgrounds even out of state, the next state over help each other. You have a few extra bales of hay, donate it to your neighbor Rancher/Farmer. You own a rig truck some hay to a neighbor. My father always told us growing up one hand washes the other. Your neighbor may need a favor someday. The weather/climate has gotten crazy.
@DJ-bh1ju
@DJ-bh1ju 3 года назад
@@denisemmunger9437 The farmers out here are on 3rd cutting already. Yes, there are wet spots, but it's hilly enough that most land is really well drained. I have 85 acres of woods and corn fields with only a couple spots I can't get into. Everything else is going crazy.

I'm sure you have checked but I will mention it just in case. Lincoln Nebraska and surrounding area on Craigslist shows several ads for hay for sale for around 90 dollars a round bale. The problem would be getting it transported. Wish there was a way to help. Further away in Platte City MO I see it selling for 65 dollars a bale.

So upsetting to see you all struggling to get hay, yet farmers are selling hay to China. I keep praying for all our ranchers that things will get better. I keep checking your live cam and hoping to see rain for you all, enough rain to refill all the watering holes and help the grass to grow. I just wish there were a way I could help. Erin sure has the knack for growing veggies. She is such an amazing lady with all that she does and accomplishes. But, you can tell how much she really loves every minute of it and able to help others. Jeff is AWESOME! I don't know how his wife keeps up with him. I wish I had his energy. His values and morals are very rare. Mrs. Jeff made a great choice when she accepted his proposal, she knew she was getting a real and awesome man. God Bless and protect you all as you continue to support your family and community.

Grass hay and alfalfa have been exported to Japan and Australia for 30+ years. Increased in 2000 and hay prices here doubled. Now with drought in so much of the western USA and fields have burned with bales still in the field hay prices are skyrocketing and will only get worse as long as the supply lasts. I paid $385.00 for 1 ton of alfalfa early last week. I too am worked. Growers are making a bundle on hay this year.
