Yeah, the script was basically written by like a college freshman who just took modern American history 101.

I had also watched this young and missed the beat. I thought it was about overcoming disabilities and overcoming adversity and other crap. I was learning history and I'd have moments like "oh, just like in forrest gump"

I had the same experience, watching it as a child from a European country. I had no idea what any of the events referenced were, except for my father explaining to me that Apple was a successful tech company. I still thought it was quite funny and profound for some reason.

I've recently come to realize that Forrest Gump is the original nostalgia porn movie. It's sole purpose is to be like "hey remember the 60s and 70s?" Ironically boomers now think it's like the best movie ever made while making fun of millennials that like nostalgia porn movies that come out now. oh, ETA that Jenny is probably one of the worst characters ever written. She's just so hateable in every way it makes the movie almost unwatchable for me.

He got attack speed on hit, so he had 5 stacks but in that fight with the slime lord he didn't hit cus the weapon is ass so he lost the stacks

Yeah i love the egg but as for a lot of other streamers gaming takes are usually as nuanced as children’s bedtime story cause most of them can’t seem to grasp the fact that gaming is so mainstream nowadays that what is good for their own stream (even for someone as successful as NL) is fing insignificant to gaming as a whole lol Plus ngl hating on mainstream whatever in general has high school hipster energy lol

eh. It's more just a matter of how he personally engages with fiction. which is, by and large, not very much? He plays amoral, asshole, characters (thornforg) in rpg's because fictional characters don't engender his sympathy. see also his take on Forest Gump. And with that in mind, he still thinks God of War has a good story, padded out with hours and hours of 'overly complex bullshit'. and never hating on any single thing that's mainstream has serious middle school 'must conform' energy, so.

@@jotunn30 I don't really think he's a gaming hipster and that wasn't really my point. It's more that we know he doesn't play games off stream (except marvel snap and SAP occasionally), and so his engagement with gaming as a medium is limited to what he streams, and what the stream audience responds to. The best content isn't always the best games, and the best games don't always make great content. I remember last year he said that Alt-F4 was a game of the year contender for him, and that is a streamer-brained take. It's a great game for his type of stream, in a way that Disco Elysium wouldn't be, but it's streamer bait. He could play the best game in the world, and if half the stream audience says "resident sleeper" and leaves, he's not going to play it. That's all fine for his personal tastes, but it just means that most people should take his opinions with a grain of salt. I mostly agree about the mish-mash third-party action adventure RPGs with crafting and survival elements being boring. I don't agree that Vampire Survivors and SAP are the best examples of what the medium can do.

Balance reasons... They left enough of them to upgrade multiple weapons, or to make sure you can find thel without needing a guide to find the one specific one you need. If they did not have numbers, they would have to limit them, otherwise you could get a max weapon before the first boss. AND I KNOW you can still do that, but not on your first run ..

What killed it for me was the boring combat system. I mean seriously - the old games were renowned for their many and interesting weapons, and in this game he only has 2?!? And no, the shield and his son don't count - not only are they limited, but they're boring as fuck. Also, I wasn't all that crazy about the story early on.
