As a teacher i would put a noise meter on that everyone can see and if it’s too high they get more homework. If it stays low they get less homework. Problem solved 😉
It’s definitely tougher with the older students, I have zero experience teaching HS. But in theory… I would have the class come up with one together. Maybe a lyric from a song they are into at the moment. Or a school motto, or something about graduation year. Something like a football coach would say to get the attention of players in practice. Yet… this is theory and just a suggestion, I don’t know if it would work!
Do you have clear consequences for when they don’t stop? My attention getter is 5 countdown. So I say “ok, five, four, three,….” and they know that if I get to zero, if anyone is still talking, those names go on the board. If they get have their name written down twice in one week, an email goes home to parents. The consequences just escalate from there. Be firm and consistent.
In my grade 6/7 class I did "Believe when I say" the kids will go "I want it that way". With the younger kids I say "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea" they'll go "sponge Bob square pants"
These are so cute. I've been out of elementary school for a very long time. I do, however, believe the way the teacher got our attention was to just start teaching. She/he didn't need all of these gimmicks. I know that today's children are built a little differently.
My class is full of blinks (blackpinks fans) and my teacher told if any one of you can make the vlass silent i will gove you 10+ marks. So i went to the front and started to sing money(lisas solo) and the part "everyone silent!".everybody became silent.and i got 10 extra marks on my test.
Now that I’m a teacher I be lookin at all the boy teachers on social media different 🥰😍❤️THE BOY teachers at my school are like my bruddas that’s gross 🤮
So can you please tell us... How do you teach them these tricks... Like what do you say to them to pay attention on these words... As if my students don't know these words how do I teach them that you guys have to pay attention when I say this words then you follow the next words after me?????
