Just picked up that Decathlon jacket for $60 on sale. Absolutely love it. One of my favorite pieces of gear. My Kazoo 1 person backpacking tent is pretty awesome too. Got it for $60 on Amazon, it’s a free standing tent in the 3 lb range and perfect for what I do. Also love my zippies down blanket. Huge, warm blanket that’s in the 2 lb range and is great for summer camping/backpacking. Also $60 on Amazon. My most expensive piece of kit is my Big Agnes divide insulated sleeping pad.
I’ll admit that the Lanshan tent is affordable, I sold mine and switched to the Durston X-Mid. Similar weight with more features. Thanks for sharing some great budget options.
Here’s one: Trail Buddy hiking poles. Cork, durable, tons of colors options great prices. Great customer service. I’ve had mine for 5 years Nd well over @1k miles.
Nice. I picked up the synthetic version of the Decathlon puffy for $40 a while back. It's great. I still use the original, smaller Lanshan 1. I've been thinking of using the just the outer fly with the bivy for 360 protection. Use it like a Six Moon Designs Deschutes.
the ultralite models i wear are the super cheap light ones. they'll get beat up during heavy bushwhacking, but for normal backpacking theyve never let me down.
@AudiaciousLife obviously, they arent bomb proof.. but, the only time ive seen someones fail, was completely user error. That person was me, and i was being pretty rough on them.
I got one of those trek 100s for everyone in my family, and that's 5 of them. Lol. The hammock gear economy Is only 40$ more then the moon dance you think it's worth it?
I wish the Frogg Toggs has pit zips. I find the Durston Xmid 1 not much more costly than the Lanshan 1, and I dislike the Lanshan's low ceiling at the foot end (wet foot box from touching wet tent walls)
durston tents are nice, but I kinda hate 1P tents that need 2 poles.. I only ever carry one, so it kinda kills the weight savings for me. I'm honestly not fully convinced pit zips on a rain jacket are actually useful, or just extra weight. Ive got a few jackets with them, and don't really find they help much at all. Just unzipping the front does a lot more I've found
@MattyOutdoors Ya, I only sometimes use trekking poles (depends on terrain). Hammock camping for the win - no trekking pole required! Once I got a rain jacket with pit zips, I won't ever buy one without them. However, a trekking umbrella is what I choose over any rain jacket if the winds are not too crazy
