Buckingham Palace has released a succinct and telling statement that suggests the more serious allegations made by Meghan Markle during her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey will be contested.
The statement was an acknowledgment of Harry and Meghan's experiences while working royals but stopped short of an apology.
"The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan," the statement said.
"The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
"Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members."
CNN Reporter Anna Stewart said she believed this would be the only comment the Palace would make on the matter pointing to royal sources suggesting the Sussexes would make no further comment.
