Some Sims 4 mods are NOT showing up in game? Today's video explains how to fix Sims 4 mods not working in 2021 (after update) and tells you why mods don't work on Sims 4! 'Why won't my mods show up in Sims 4?' is a question that I get asked all the time so I truly hope this video is going to clarify why script mods or custom content don't work in Sims 4!
And there's no need to worry about Sims 4 script mods showing under custom content, it's normal for some of your Sims 4 script mods to be shown in CC!

Are your Sims 4 mods not showing up in game? Don't you know how to fix Sims 4 mods not working in 2021? This video aims to help you understand why mods are not showing up in Sims 4 or not even working!
And, btw, you shouldn't worry about Sims 4 mods that show under custom content, it's really normal, as long as those Sims 4 script mods include .package files!

Okay so I have no clue what’s happening but I redownloaded my game multiple times and each time it doesn’t even HAVE a mod folder with it. So I don’t even know how I would try to regenerate one when my game never downloaded with one in the first place. Please help !!!

@Darielle i have my mccmd center and it shows up on the list in the game but when i go to click on my sim toon it doesn't show up so i don't know how to get it to pop up like i've asked my mom's daughter to help which she did tried to delete it and to re download it to put in the mod folder but it still doesn't show up when i click on my sim toon 😕 and the thing is i used it yesterday perfectly fine to revive people that turn into ghosts even the pets aswell and i like makin them to be young again but i was wondering if you could help me please? 🙏

It shows at the start up but, when I get into my actual game it doesn't show. Also, whenever I play with a cc sim, I get an error code but, when I play with a non cc mod, it's fine. What do I do?

me too :/ None of my new cc will show up in build mod or CAS, but it'll show up in the mods list when I first start the game. I've downloaded all new mods too :/ correct folder and all.

Despite you saying it was the easiest issue to fix. I have been trying for hours to get a single mod working on my sims, absolutely nothing is working. Ive gone over everything: The file types (My mods are all packages and script files no Zips), the CC and script options in the settings (it has been saved properly), there's no sub folders only one mod in the mod folder for testing (its is up to date) restarting and starting again and again, making sure it's in the right mods folder (It is, there's no doubt about it) I tried downloading wicked whims and when I thought that might be too complex to deal with I got a simple eye colour package to test it, still nothing, I even tried to repair the game in Origins. I feel like i've exhausted every last option and i'm sick of playing vanilla, I use a mac btw.

Thank you THANK YOU! I had the "no mods showing" issue after last patch, and renaming my mods folder to OLD then starting and quitting S4 to let it create the new resource.cfg file fixed it! What a relief. :D

@@gracejansen527 @Grace Jansen heyy! did you rename the correct folder? the one included in your documents? the reason why it's not working might be the fact that you didn't have mods & cc turned on previously. so you can rename it back into 'mods', open your game, enable mods and cc, apply changes, exit your game & then rename it once again. Open your game & your new folder should pop up

If anyone's situation is like mine. You might have a game file stored in your OneDrive and the game is looking at that one when it boots.(Even though I deleted it and unsync'd it months ago.) After reinstalling the game, it went back there anyway

Thank you so much! I had 2 mods folders and that was the issue. If anyone sees that they have 2 mod folders just drag the one that doesn’t work to the one that does, which will copy all the stuff you found on the un working folder to the working one. Then there you go, it should work! :) If you can’t tell which one works, at the search bar it should say “documents > electronic arts > the sims 4 > mods”.

At first my MC commander wouldn't show up in the actual game. It did however show up in my mods list right at the beginning of the game. I was going crazy trying to figure out what wasn't working. I removed ALL of my mods except the MC commander, it still wouldn't pop up in the game. Turns out I was inserting the MC COMMANDER in a subfolder, I put it directly in the created mods folder and it worked. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Okay so question what if your old mods in CC are working just fine but when you try and put new ones in they don't show up at all even when you're putting them in the mods file with the other ones

Hello there! So one thing I'd try in your case is to reset the Mods folder. Here are the steps that you need to take: 1. Rename your Mods folder in Mods old (make sure you're renaming it with your game completely closed) 2. Open your game 3. Close it straightaway 4. A new Mods folder will pop up 5. Put in this new Mods folder your new mods/cc first 6. Open your game and see if those show up both at startup and in your actual gameplay 7. If so, you can close your game and then copy your old cc from your old Mods folder to this new Mods folder as well If you still encounter the same issue after putting those old ones in, there might be some corrupt/problematic cc and you can try the Better Exceptions Mod that basically tells you what mods/cc need to be deleted from your Mods folder (I have a vid on this here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WncYhAAtKcM.html) Let me know if it helps! 🤗

Thank you for this video. I was confused because my sims 4 game was installed on my D drive (I changed the location), so I was trying to put my mods folder there as well. I moved my mods folder back to the location you mentioned at 1:36 and it worked!

i downloaded a zip file compression and i'm not sure what kind of file to convert my zip files.. which one would work best? (Tar, Tgz, Wim, Arj, Lzh) i'm sorry if this is confusing but those are the options i have lol. i just got the game yesterday on my computer :)

No worries! Just download Winrar and you should be able to open any zip/rar mod that you download! You just have to select the files included in that archive and simply drag & drop those into your main Mods folder! Let me know if you need further help!

Hi! I have an issue. I downloaded new cc last night and it shows up when I first load up the game. But once I enter CAS or build mode, no new cc shows up. All my old cc works just fine. I don't know what to do. I even reset my sims 4 folder and my mods folder but that didn't work either. All my new cc are package files and they are all in my mods folder correctly. All my new cc is newly uploaded cc from TSR as well. I'm not really sure what to do. My old cc works just fine but my new cc does not! Can you give me any advice?

Hello there! Did you make sure to put your cc & mods files in the right folder? That should be Documents/EA/The Sims 4/Mods (so make sure not to copy those into a completely different folder, there's only one Mods folder tied to the game). Does your Mods folder have that resource.cfg file? If it doesn't include that file, your mods/cc might not show up. If your mods/cc have a zip/rar extension, you should unzip those first and then place those unzipped files in your main Mods folder (don't use subfolders). Make sure to properly enable mods, Script Mods and cc within your game options & apply changes. Do you also use an antivirus? If so, make sure it's not blocking your Sims 4 app (to avoid that, please go to the allowed apps & Exclusions sections and add your TS4 folder as well as your TS4 app in there!) After following all these steps, you should be able to see all of your mods & cc in game, as well as in CAS (you can also go in CAS > click on that little arrow > filter by custom content and see if your cc show up!) Let me know if you need further help!

Hey there!! Did we make sure to unzip the file before putting it into the Mods folder? Does it end with zip or rar? If so, we might need to either double click on the mod & copy and paste the files that are inside orr we can use a program called winrar to open that file with it and then extract the files to your main Mods folder I truly hope it makes sense 🙏 do let me know if I can help you further!

hey, can you help, i transfered my sims 4 and Ea location as i was redownloading them from c drive to d drive and created a file called program files where sims 4 went but i cant even see the mods folder, the tray, saves and others it shows me other things but when i tried playing it yesterday i dont know how it located the old mods folder i transfered to my usb, i literally dont kno what to do, helppp

I'm not sure what happened on mine tho, the game updated and when i opened, it disabled my mods/ccs. After enabling it, game is requiring to restart. But when I restart it, it's disabled again. So I had to enable, restart it, showing disabled again. I always make sure to click on save changes but it doesn't look like it's saved. I've also repaired the game via EA. idk what to do

Did you make sure to update all of your script mods after this patch? Have you also made sure to place your cc in your main Mods folder (not in subfolders)?

i have wicked whims in my game and it worked perfectly but the other day when i played sims again and i clicked on the floor for example than the wicked icon doesn't show up anymore.does that happen to anyone?and my healthcare mod doesn't show on the sim's phone when i want them to go to the doctor.all my script mods shows in the game too.

Hi there!! If you did update your game, did you also remove our WW mod that you currently have in your Mods folder, download & place the updated version in there? If that does not seem to be working for you, you can also try to reset your Mods folder, I'll lay out the steps so it's easier for you to follow! 1. Make sure you have mods&cc enabled in your game > close your game 2. Rename your Mods folder into Mods old (but keep your Mods old folder bcs we'll need it later on) 3. Open your game & close it straightaway 4. A new Mods folder should pop up 5. Copy all of your cc (but no script mods!!) from your Mods old to the new Mods folder 6. Download the latest versions for your script mods 7. Put your script mods into your new Mods folder Sending lots of good thoughts your way! 🤗

So if I take up the rest of the space on my C: Drive, and I'm trying to move everything to my D: Drive to save up space, I still shouldn't be touching my mods folder, etc? I redownloaded the game onto my D: Drive and that helped a ton with space, but is that all I have to do?

It's always best to have your game installed on the drive that has a lot more space, so that's great! But in terms of your mods and stuff, keep in mind that those ones are located within your Documents folder and if you right click on it, it should say that it's located on your C drive, right? There is actually a way to transfer your Documents folder to your D drive, I have mentioned this in a video about 'how to make Sims 4 run faster', but can you please tell me what your issue is exactly? None of your mods are showing up or just a few of them?

I accidentally placed my ea app in the bin. I took it back out but then my PC said that the EA App had sync problems so I uninstalled the ea app ( along with the Sims 4 ) and reinstalled everything. I placed my mods in the mods folder like before but now nothing shows up. I've tried everything I can think of, including redownloading my mods but they still don't show up.

My wicked whims mods are coming up in the game it just won’t allow me to use it. So when I click on the bed it says wicked whims if I clicked on that it will have the options of woohoo or settings, if I press woohoo it glitches then the woohoo part disappears and only gives me the settings option. Hello there! Did you update your game? If so, make sure you search for your WW mods inside your Mods folder and remove them. Then, redownload them (the latest versions!!) and put them in your Mods folder. Let me know if this works for you!

Did you rename it with your game closed (and even with all apps closed)? Did you rename the proper Mods folder (the one located in Docs/EA/TS4)? Then make sure to open your game, completely close it and the new folder should appear

Can you please help meee. I downloaded wicked whims and it’s not showing in the game. But it is in the mods folder and it’s not in the any sub folders. The wicked whims show up in the list of mods that pops up at the beginning of the sims log in, but it just doesn’t show up when I play the game.

@@rreki7830 ok so I got it to work. What I did was put i make sure every single wicked whims file is deleted then I downloaded it back and extracted it before putting it in the mods folder. Make sure you get all the extracted files in the mods folder . Hope this helps 🤍

Did you also unzip them before putting them into your Mods folder? (if you're on Windows, you need to use a file extractor program such as Winrar/7 zip or if you're on Mac just double click your downloaded file and place those files that show up inside of that file if that makes sense!) Aaand you should also place those files inside your main Mods folder (not into subfolders that you've created yourself beforehand) 😊

Hi, I already knew everything you’ve said but I still watched through the end just in case if there’s something that I didn’t know, but there weren’t. I play The Sims 4’s Legacy Edition and ever since I had to play with the Legacy Edition most of the CC that I’ve downloaded simply does not show up in my game (even though they show up in the custom content list). My game is always up to date and I double-check the CC that I downloaded if they are too and I always downloaded after making sure yet most of the CC that I downloaded just doesn’t show up in my game. Could it be because I have to play with the Legacy Edition because I have tried everything yet nothing changed. Thanks in advance!

Do you happen to use an antivirus program? If so, please make sure it's not blocking your EA folder / your Sims game. You can avoid that by adding TS4 & your Electronic Arts to the allowed apps & exceptions sections You can add the same exception for your TS4 within your firewall Let me know if this works!

Are those cc new? If those are kinda old, there's a high chance that your cc are not compatible with the current version of your game. You can try to identify any potential conflicting/broken/incompatibile cc or mods by installing the Better exceptions mod. Unzip it, put those unzipped files into your Mods folder, open your game, run a compatibility test and a browser page should show up. There you should be able to see all the potential script mods & package files that are causing you game issues and, therefore, need to be deleted from your Mods folder! Lemme know if this works for you!

The mods show up in the startup of the game in that little box but when i play the game the mods are gone, even in build mode and CAS, nothing shows up in the game. I tried everything but it won't work, it says it's there but when i play it doesn't work/ isn't there.

Did you make sure to: 1. Turn on cc, mods and script mods in your game options 2. Unzip your cc if those end in zip/rar 3. Put your cc in the main Mods folder (not in subfolders) 4. K so, recently i had to move my Sims into my E drive bc of a storage problem on my C drive. I have all my mods in the folder on my E drive but they're not showing up, How can I fix this?

Okay so the question is: did you move your Sims 4 app (or reinstall your game onto a different drive) to your E drive or did you move the entire Electronic Arts folder to your E drive? So basically: 1. You can have your Sims 4 app installed on either one of your drives BUT 2. Your EA folder must be located into your Documents folder in order for your game to recognize all of your mods, families, saves in the game So if you choose to move your EA folder onto another drive, you'll have to change your entire Docs' folder location to that specific driver if that makes sense! To do that, you can right click on your Documents folder > properties and there you should find an option that lets you change its location! Hope it makes sense, but def let me know if you have any further questions :)

It's always best to remove all of your script mods & install the latest versions whenever an update comes out. If deleting & updating your mods does not work for you, you can try this: 1. The mods folder should be in the documents/electronic arts/the sims 4 folder If that mods folder is not there, you can reset the whole entire EA folder (so keep this current one as a backup) & get another one with all folders where you can place all of your saves & mods there

I’ve done everything to get my CC to show up in game and everything I did that you did that was supposed to make a second mods folder pop didn’t make the second folder pop up and the resource.cfg file never showed up when I did what you said to do and it just never was in the games folder to begin with, I really want to play my game with my CC but I’m so close to giving up and uninstalling it because nothing is working to fix the problem and I’ve watched so many videos and googled so many things and none of it is helping and idk what to do about it 😢

Resetting the Mods folder always does the trick! 1. Turn on cc & mods 2. Apply changes (if those do not apply, i have a fix for that ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ejP49zTg7FM.html > close game 3. Rename the Mods folder into Mods old (keep the Mods old folder in your TS4 folder) - do this with your game completely closed 4. Remove these files from The Sims 4 folder: localthumbcache & gameversion (this way we remove any temporary corrupted mod files, similar to getting rid of cache!) 5. Launch the game & close it rightaway 6. A new Mods folder should appear in TS4 folder (make sure it has the resource.cfg file inside!) 7. Copy all of your cc - clothes and furniture - (but no script mods or functional cc, things like life mods, restaurant mods etc) from your Mods old to the newly generated Mods folder 8. Download the updates for the mods (if there are any! If there are not, we gotta be patient a bit & wait till those updates get released🙏) 9. Place your updated script mods into your newly generated Mods folder

Hello there! Sorry to hear that! Most script mods (such as UI cheats, Mc Command Center and so on) do come in an archive, so did you unzip your mod files before placing them into your Mods folder? Because if you didn't, your mod won't show up. You can very easily do that with a file extractor program, such as Winrar or 7 zip. Or you can just double click on your archived mod and unzip it if you're on a Mac! Let me know if it helps!

Hi! Can you please help me my version of sims 4 is old and I downloaded cc and it shows up on start up and in game options but not in game. In game options it dosent have custom content it only has non-script mods and scrip mods, does that mean I cant hav cc? It only says view mods

Are you sure that the specific cc you've downloaded is compatibile with your game version? Some cc will also require you to own certain packs and so always make sure to check out the descriptions of those cc. Did you enable mods, script mods and custom content in your Sims 4 (you should tick those 2 boxes in your Options > Other tab)? Did you place all of your cc in your main Mods folder (don't use subfolders as some won't show up at startup)? Do you have the resource.cfg file in your Mods folder?

@@Darielle I fixed it I ended up downloading an updater and I updated it and it fixed it!! But originally it didn’t even have 2 bixes to tick it looked very different than everyone else it just said veiw mods and it had scrip mods and non scrip mods when I clicked on it. My sims 4 is cracked so that probably why

I'm struggling with the mods saying they are on the game when I view custom content, but then I check and it isn't there. I'm not sure what to do, I've tried looking the names up in the gallery, i have tried resetting, nothing! They are package files and some are compressed(zipped), no idea what that means. Hi there! Soo just to make things clear, in order for your cc/mods to show up you need to: 1. Place your mods and cc into your main Mods folder (do not create subfolders for them!) 2. If your mods/cc do end in zip/rar and therefore are zipped, you need to unzip them using a program called winrar/7 zip (if you're on Windows). You'll have to google it, install it and once you install it, open your Winrar/7zip program and with that window opened, select your zipped/compressed file and drag it and drop it into your winrar/7 zip program > double click on your desired file > this should enable you to see multiple files > select all of them > drag and drop them into your main Mods folder > now your mods/cc are unzipped! or just double click on them (if you're on MAC) and select the files that are inside & copy and paste them into your main Mods folder! Hope it all makes sense, let me know if you need further explanations, I'm right here!

Here’s what we wanna do ✨ 1. Make sure we don’t have any files that end with rar/zip (if we do, then those files need to be unzipped either by double clicking on that zip/rar file (Windows 11/MAC) and copying the contents into the Mods folder or by using a program called Winrar - just open it - drag your rar/zip file - double click on that folder - select the files inside - drag them into your Mods folder) 2. Make sure we have all cc & mods placed into the main Mods folder (like this Mods folder > blouse.package and NOT Mods > Clothes folder > blouse.package) If we have them organised into subfolders, then put all those cc into the main Mods folder (copy+paste) I know you’re organised but the thing is sometimes the game won’t recognise the file if it’s not put into the Mods folder 😃 I like to have them organised too, but sometimes it doesn’t work so we gotta try this If this doesn’t work, then we can try this! 1. Enable custom content & mods 2. Save changes (if those do not save, i have a fix for that ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ejP49zTg7FM.html > close sims 4 3. Rename the Mods folder into Mods old (keep the Mods old folder in your TS4 folder) - do this with your game completely closed 4. Delete these files from The Sims 4 folder: localthumbcache & gameversion (this will get rid of any mod temporary files, similar to getting rid of cache!) 5. Open the game & close it rightaway 6. A new Mods folder should pop up in your TS4 folder (make sure we have the resource.cfg file!) 7. Let’s copy our custom content - clothes and furniture - (but no script mods or functional cc!!) from your Mods old to the new Mods folder 8. Download the updates for the mods (if there are any! If there are not, please try not to put outdated mods🙏) 9. Place your updated script mods into your newly generated Mods folder Truly hope this helps!

Can you help me? When I download the mods and cc the show up in the custom content box but not in Create A Sim. I dont know whats happening but its very frustrating. Thx 💛

Hello there! Did you make sure to put your cc & mods files in the right folder? That should be Documents/EA/The Sims 4/Mods (so make sure not to copy those into a completely different folder, there's only one Mods folder tied to the game). Does your Mods folder have that resource.cfg file? If it doesn't include that file, your mods/cc might not show up. If your mods/cc have a zip/rar extension, you should unzip those first and then place those unzipped files in your main Mods folder (don't use subfolders). Make sure to properly enable mods, Script Mods and cc within your game options & apply changes. After following all these steps, you should be able to see all of your mods & cc in game, as well as in CAS (you can also go in CAS > click on that little arrow > filter by custom content and see if your cc show up!)
