When taking a friend or family member out to mountain bike for the first time, there are only so many pointers and tips you can give to them, but in the end they are on the bike alone. Unfortunately, this means that sometimes they will need to learn things the hard way.... and sometimes twice.
In this episode, I take my younger brother out for a ride at one of the most famous mtb trails in all of North Caroline: The Ridgeline trail at Dupont State Forest. This is one of my go to trails for a beginner as it's not only very beginner friendly but also still loads of flowy fun for me! It's great for a newcomer to get a feel for some speed as well as get an introduction to berms!
Though Mackenzie takes a couple falls, he does so like a champ, and I'm pretty sure we've got him hooked. Where should I take him next??
