22:48. LMAO 😂……C’mon Steve, you know that was a clean Pass. There’s a HUGE DIFFERENCE between being a CONFIDENT Driver vs being a RECKLESS Driver. DOT/ STATE TROOPERS love to see CONFIDENT Drivers that have Confidence in what they’re doing…..17:05, 17:10, 17:25, looks like you did a little editing at 23:17…
that trucker had no business passing u Steve like a mad man. I would I wrote down the information and reported him for careless driving. people are in a hurry to get know where these days. stay safe Orwell and Steve. your videos are always on time with great content!!
Nobody would have done nothing until he hurt or killed someone. It's "he said, she said " until the cops actually see a trucker or typical 4-wheeler idiot do something stupid.
Good advertisement for his trucking company that there is a RU-vid video for everyone to see online.Hope his boss and insurance company see it or get the film sent to them.
Back in 2002 made my delivery out on the Island, headed back to Pa on 287, truck driver flies past me and says I must have little balls, got 78 and after a few miles low and behold same driver was pulled over by state trooper. Hope he had deep pockets.
I know a lot of those small middle-of-nowhere towns grew up around rail stations that serviced the local farmers. Wouldn't surprise me if that's just another quaint old rail town.
That is how i lost my dear friend of so many year's. And she was like a sister to me. She was hit head on coming around a curve on her motorcycle. And the driver had no patience on waiting. When he thought it would be clear to pass he passed 2 vehicles and a camper trailer. And my sister Rhonda was coming around the curve. And the people in the Truck pulling the camper said it looked like it was to late. And form what detectives said where she was and where the truck was illegally passing vehicles. She had no reaction time. The suspect was walking and was mocking and i was like that's it. And i jumped over the pew's (Benches but they are called Pew's) and the suspect was shackled from arm's to his ankles and around his waist. And i tackled him so hard we both went through the wood paneling that's where the judge's bench is. And the judge she was scared to death. Bailiff's was like who's going to arrest this guy (Me) my wife and godmother both said your face was beaming red. And a friend who's the Sheriff was like stand down to the Deputy's and Bailiff's. Sheriff was like Jesse come here and i went with him to go outside to have a smoke. And the judge she joined me and i apologized to her for destroying her bench area. And she was like hell they are remodeling the whole court room monday and i busted out laughing and so did she. The suspect did in fact take his life. After the jailer told him that either prison he goes to he will be haunted cause the James Family has friend's who are guard's. And yes we do and the guy got so scared when guards was approaching his cell he took his life. And i was like good. We see people do that $#@! all the time. And since the driver was in a company vehicle who he was working for. Steve i sued the $#@! out of that company they ended up filing for bankruptcy and ended up foreclosing and shutting down. They did pay the settlement agreement.
Ok, Nice Video, Kansas does have nice backroads. Now 😂, the Volvo Pass, All I’ll say is; it took me a lot of YEARS to learn to get off the foot feed and let someone pass me as QUICKLY as possible and get them the hell out of my life. It’s called being a true Professional. I learned that decades ago when I drove for JEVIC..!!
I work at a hardware store and we got a soil delivery recently that was delivered by an old K100. I was so excited to unload it and talk to the driver and all my coworkers were looking at me like I was crazy 😅
I usually go five to ten over the speed limit to try and pacify today's average mindless driver that think that they deserve to go at least ten over at all times. I still get people like that Gotcha transport truck in this video that will go 20 over to pass me going 10 over and 99% of the time it doesn't gain them much more than a few seconds but it sure makes for an unsafe situation. Sometimes they pull a maneuver like that only to make a left turn a minute later and forces me to slow down or stop when i get stuck behind them while they turn.
Hey driver, don't drive to satisfy others. If they're in a big hurry, it's tough shit , they should have left yesterday. I normally back out of it when someone is passing me on a two lane ,so I keep it at the speed limit or a little under depending on the road conditions.
Another reason why I am glad my days on the road for a living will be over within 18 months. Too many drivers in flip flops and tank tops who do not speak English.
Wow that's right I'm a retired truck driver who has seen many people who shouldn't be out there driving a big rig and cause bad accidents or killed families it's just crazy
Had to be first to the red light. That could’ve gotten messy in a hurry but that’s society these days hooray for me and the hell with everybody else. Have a safe ride driver👍✌️
We just came down the western slope of I70. We watched 3 trucks running out of control with brakes smoking as they went outa sight passing us. Somehow they made it.
In the UK where we had decent industry we just have now "Luxury Apartments" Like anyone needs them!. Piss poor construction on a lease few years down the road look shabby and falling apart and has a lease no one repairs them.
That's one way you can unload a large dump truck 😮 😅 Great call on the train Big Man, wonder what one of the big steam engines way, like running full of water? History is amazing 😊 Thanks ✌🏻🧡 🇨🇦.
He came around you on the 2 lane while you were doing the 65mph speed limit, but then you drug him up the bridge under 50mph and shut the door on him when it went back to one lane. Sounds like he was the one that got his feelings hurt when he got on the cb.
I would have just backed out of it a bit and let the guy get by sooner, just gotta be the bigger driver sometimes and drive for the other person, buddy could have asked you on the cb if you wanted to help him get by if he was in that much of a hurry as well.
I’m sure being from old school you let off the throttle a little towards the end of his Pass 😳 I normally would if they were endangering everyone ! But he probably would of hit that car head on or ran everyone off the road for nothing 😎Rickster retired so I know you lifted when the blind curve came up 🙈
Few years ago a truck tried to pass me twice and couldn’t. I was going just over the speed limit. Third time it got along side of me and run me onto the shoulder and ditch. Why? I was pulling my horses at the time. So disgusting.
Just wait till ya all run into me. White knuckle on the wheel, 24 ft. class C motor home in the hammer lane doing 55. 🤣J/K, I'm usually on the little roads. Be cool-Be safe👍👍
Manual Transmission out beats automatic on a hill LoL and he is back to square one again. But he could have waited to get ahead but everyone in a rush to get ahead but all well. Nice to see the old steel bridge still holding up and seeing the old steam train. LoL, great timing on catching the massive latch-up of the GE ES44AC Diesel Locomotive.
Yes sir that driver is one of them hurry up to get back were i started from driver's then asked you if you got your feelings hurt. What a dummy he is hats off to you brorher for the way you handled it
Those really wide old town streets are a hold back from the late 1860's when most of the towns in Kansas were considered "Cowtowns" The Texas ranchers would drive their massive herds north into Kansas to sell the cattle for beef. The Cattle would eventually end up on the railroad in KC bound for the slaughter houses in Chicago. Many of these old towns still celebrate this short lived part of their history.
Unfortunately that has gone and that’s what is wrong with todays generation Had things too easy and don’t know how to work for things and respect others and look after the older generation Because without the older generation there would be no new generations to carry on
Steve - that's indeed a nice bridge in Atchison where you crossed the Missouri River - - BTW, K-4 (between Topeka and Atchison) is considered by us locals as a dangerous stretch of highway; good job navigating it safely (-: As you like trains, that RR Museum in Atchison you mentioned is definitely worth a visit if you ever get back down this way!! The route you took is how I go to Wisconsin; I love that stretch of US-151going through Dubuque. Brandt (Topeka, KS).
I really miss them old mid west towns Livin now in northther commiefornia coast i still see some of it here but all built in with 70s/ 80s crap. Love seen ol Orwell still puttin in miles. When I was a pre/ teen my neighbor had a Peterbilt cabover. Frist clutch ive ever changed, well more liked helped changed was that truck.
Great video Steve really enjoy all the different camera angles and your commentary and the music. Very beautiful scenery on the two lane highways to your destination. That guy that past you not cool! Thanks for sharing stay safe Steve.
Much as it's sad for a rail enthusiast to see abandoned spur lines... A lot of the jobs moving car-load freight just became *trucking* jobs. Modern railroads move MORE tons of cargo than they did at the height of railroad employment, faster, and for less cost to the shippers by having gone to unit trains carrying bulk goods.....while trucks picked up most the car-load freight moves which they can do faster and more flexibly. Just a different world.
Not enough old school drivers out their. Most drivers today don't need to be driving trucks. You said it risking others life's for absolutely nothing. I'd report him to his company
