Founded in 1986 by Merle Hatleberg, for the past 34 years their mission has been to provide daily nutritional meal to the homeless, the unemployed, the working poor, the mentally challenged, the physically challenged, senior citizens and children. Meals are provided to their guests in a friendly, non-threatening atmosphere and they believe that no one should go to bed hungry. The Soup Kitchen normally serves over 300 guests per day, 7 days per week with lunch from 12 to 3 pm and breakfast every Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 11 am.
In addition, they have a tutoring program which provides after school literacy and academic achievement assistance services to the impoverished and at-risk students who are in the kindergarten thru third grades.
The soup kitchen is located at 720 W. 19th Street, Costa Mesa
If you would like to give a financial gift today to support both their hunger relief program and after-school tutoring program, all financial donations are tax-deductible. Make all checks out to Someone Cares Soup Kitchen and earmark check as charitable donation.
