The city beach of Afitosa, which is 3 km long, will be divided into 3 parts... The middle part of the beach is the largest but also of the worst quality. Almost the entire length of the beach, immediately after entering the water, there is a rock that is difficult to jump over, due to the fact that it is often slippery and because of potential urchins trapped in the hollows of the stones.. There are parts that the owners of cafes or accommodation facilities in the background have cleaned and ensured a gradual and safe entry into the water. As well as parts where sandbags have been placed so that you can skip these first few meters and entered a part that is extremely beautiful and pleasant for swimming... The extraordinary color of the water, beautiful and clean sand on the beach, the smallest crowd, but still this part is not to our taste because this rock really, really bothers...
The right part of the beach, towards Kallithea, got its name from the famous beach bar that is located in its center... Liosi beach also has this extraordinary water color, but the entry into the water is also quite bad, except for the part that the cafe has cleaned for its guests ...and the far right part is practically a wild beach, extremely beautiful and without cafes...as if you are outside of civilization...
When you say the city beach of Afitos, most people will only think of the far left part of the beach where more than 80% of the visitors to Afitos beach swim. It is quite common to see a large number of small boats moored here on VARKES beach, while their owners are basking in this paradise... The sand on the beach is fine and it continues like that when entering the water as well as in the shallows which last quite a long time.. .The seabed is perfectly clean and safe to walk on. Combined with a nice sunny day, you will get the color of the water that will delight you... In the right part of this small bay you have a beach bar and their sunbeds while the rest of the beach is free to use... Also , on the elevation above the beach, we noticed a very nice cafe-canteen which during our visit had not yet set up sunbeds on the beach because they had not received the permit yet... The hill above the beach creates exceptional natural shade in the afternoon... Varkes beach has shower but no changing cabin... while the toilet is within the beach bar... The beach does not have a lifeguard or a special entrance for people with disabilities... In this part of the beach you will have the opportunity to rent equipment for water sports. How is Afitos on a high hill this beach is not very close even for those located in Afitos...
