I am a white middle-aged English man. I have always been interested in debate around issues that are broadly tied to how and why people are the way they are. Just an interest that has developed over time. In line with that I have been a frequent attendee at Speakers Corner in London's Hyde Park. And have debated a number of people on different issues and listened to a great many more. Islam is fundamentally different to a great many ways to what are English cultural norms. It is terrifying just how ignorant people are about Islam and how so many English people support the ideas that would introduce blasphemy laws. And specifically laws to protect Islam from any criticism. I have spoken to many Muslims about a number of issues. I count many of them as decent and fine human being. But Islam itself is unlike anything the native English have any real understanding of. The simple differences between how things are and how Islam would want them to be is massively conflicting.
Agree and I come down a country with half Muslims. I understand their ideology and I think European are too naive. I said this to my European friend 16 years ago when I came to visit in Denmark and I saw Muslims protesting in the streets. I told her you guys need to throw them out now before they become more. Been going on for three decades at least and still is. Thousands of young teenage girls damaged and all the establishment institutions looked the other way, especially the police, they were and are afraid to get involved. Such is the hold and power that an accusation of racism has developed here and across the western world. Ah you know a bit of your history as not all Europeans know that The Moors controlled South Europe for 700 years. I was born and lived in a normal working class part of London, and had to leave the country as a whole with my elderly convert mother for our safety. I'm gay, I left Islam (obvious since its awful laws wants me dead), exercised my freedom of conscience and expression as an exmuslim, and ended up feeling unsafe from my paternal Muslim relatives and their zealous community. My mother, born Christian and fooled into converting to Islam when she married my dad, became an agoraphobe and laden with deep anxiety and PTSD due to what the 'community' did to her too. Neither the Met nor the local council could do a thing to help us. I've had to stop myself from feeling deep resentment towards the govt for abandoning us when we needed them, for my own mental wellbeing. I managed to save enough money to help us both escape London for the country we live in now, back during the pandemic, and thankfully we're both now living the freer lives we couldn't have back in the UK due to the hidden sharia-state that operates within Britain's Muslim communities. Mum can go to church, celebrate Easter and Christmas and take off the hijab, she's recovering from her nearly 40 years of trauma being married into a Muslim family. I can now go for drinks or go for a date or do what I want, without having to look over my shoulder and worry if some homophobic zealot would beat me up or kill me for leaving islam or for being gay. I'm in my late thirties and for once I can say I can finally live a normal life - 10,000 miles from where I was born. Its insane! Its clear that those in Downing Street seem to prefer Islamists and hatefilled sharia-touting bigots, to people like us. What else could we have done but join the exodus of Brits of all backgrounds who have left the country for our own own safety, security, and wellbeing? I tell my mates back home to join us if they can. They're really suffering there. As an Irishman, with a fondness for England, I think England needs to embrace a National Day, whether that be St George's Day or another day, and the English need to stop feeling apologetic for their national identity. Politicians need to have a positive vision for England and instead of accepting the erosion of its identity, actively promote it. The culture needs to be protected from replacement through excessive migration, especially Muslims, whose beliefs and practices are incompatible with Englishness. Hope the crisis wakes the politicians up. Time to listen to people's concerns.

That tolerance is in our bones showed long before the twentieth century - whilst Europe suffered bloodbaoths and religious proscription, Elizabeth I pulled us away from that and steered us towards religious freedom and ultimately a secular state. That being said, our culture was still fundamentally Christian, with ancient pagan elements left from time immemorial. Christanity had come to Britain by mostly integrating with the existing culture, and often combined the two - hense Christmas is an amalgamation of an ancient midwinter celebration, from which many of our Christmas rituals come from, like bringing holly and mistletoe into the house - I wish I cold remember all the others but it is amazing how much of our traditions date from back then. Easter even keeps the name of the original pagan festival of spring and fertility as well as mouch of the symbolism - including the ultimate amalgamation - spring is about regeneration and rebirth - and the Christain basis of the celebration of easter is the resurrectkion and rebirth to purity from past sin. Obviously this is a very clean view of things and there have been conflicts and agro over the centurys, and we have suffered invasions - the Romans came and went, the Anglosaxons came and settled - though there is a lot of evidence to suggest that the incumbent population and culture largely remained - ditto with the Normans - and the North had Vikings first raiding them and then settling among them - but the essential premise has remained as a thread all the way through. The thread of continuity and respect for ancient tradition may have got buried somewhat in the advances and urbanisation of the twentieth centruy but i reckon it remains in our bones, our instincts, our inherent sense of our culture. One thing that I was certainly brought up with an awareness of a sense of pride of is that we were last invaded in 1066. That was a long time ago by any human measure. I went to a school that predated that. I hope that one thing to come out of this is a return to a respect for our past and the long lineage of our heratige which had got rather lost even before mass immigration. One thing that I envy Muslims for is their lack of embarassment about their cultural religion, where Christianity had become seen as at best quaint and at worst 'square,' (for want of a better word! The fact that they do still have strong communities centred around their Mosquess, where the parish church is now all but irrelevant as a community hub and place of cultural glue. The churches, by the way, that very often contain stone from Roman villas because they were still around as derelict buildings when most of the churches were built - and many of which are situated on sites that were pagan places of worship long before that even. It is so sad that we have lost our sense of rootedness in our land, but I hope that these protests are not just symptomatic of an oppressed people struggling economically from the suppressed wages that immigration is heloping to keep down and the over-burdened infrastructure but even in the towns and cities, an underlying stirring of our roots protesting that Englishness and old cultural Britishness and all the things that go with it have been denigrated and derided by terms like 'little Englander' and that sort of thing. Even in towns and cities their is something in people's bones finally rising against the currently prevailing sentiment that has been able to perpetrate such audacities as putting up a warning sign on an art exhibition containing scenes of our once green-and-pleasant land that country scenes might stir a 'dark nationalism.' That patriotism might no longer be a dirty word. In denying people a sense of belonging one is creating strife rather than peace. To ahve a country to belong to is not to be against others, it is to have the security and the foundation to exist in harmony in the world to enjoy and share cultures without loosing the essense of one's own. I used to work in a call centre trouble shooting broadband and phone issues. It happened far to often that an adult would do DPA, then hand the phone over to their child who had to do the trouble shooting with me. The companies policy was that all phone calls had to be in English, however we'd often have to ask someone who spoke their language to explain this to them. I think speaking and understanding basic English should be a minimum requirement for living in the UK. There are a huge number of ESL classes given for free, so there isn't really an excuse not to learn.
They often talk about the paradox of tolerance, especially when it comes to any bigotry coming from an Englishman. "Yes we are tolerant, but we cannot tolerate the intolerant." I would argue we have become "too tolerant" that we can't even be intolerant of other cultures/peoples, we only pick on ourselves. Criticise our own country, criticise our own beliefs, criticise our own religion. This ends up becoming the "bigotry of low-expectation" where even now I'm critiquing our tolerance instead of outside cultures that are not as good as our own.
Finally someone who understands that the root problem is not Muslims but Islam itself. It is sadly not misinterpretation of Islam. For example please google Quran 4.34 and Quran 9.5. It will take you only a minute.
The sad part is that things might have to get extremely ugly before these issues can be resolved! Thankfully a lot of people are waking up to the matter.
At this point voilence is only option. Only question are which form it takes... I know that RU-vid don't allow it, but it is only need to read some koran to understand that it is plague which need to be cured... It still isn't mean all of muslims are such, but unless particular persons prove they exactly are different it meaned they are same. Peaceful world possible only by strong hand of people who don't allowed others to say how they must live in thier homes... And it afar not only about muslims or external things, but also about internal things like government for example.

Fairly accurate video of the situation Chris. You do get one major thing wrong though: Non-r%cism was not born out of secularism at all, it was not the "beginning of the secular view of the world". It is a fundamentally a christian concept, and it is a value and a lesson repeated throughout the Bible and directly in the teachings of Christ. A lot of the values that we take for granted in West, the equality and equal rights for every individual regardless of anything. It's those values that are under threat now.

Therein lies and ever present and growing problem. The two unfortunately cannot be reconciled, and the just thing to do is left the British live as they always have done and in peace. Muslim countries are the natural environment for them.
