I feel like they aren’t showing the save Chloe ending as a way of marketing or an NDA from square enix, and they knew fans would do anything to see max and Chloe again since they chose her over the entire town. I think they are still together just long distance at the moment. Also why would Chloe be on the campus if she doesn’t attend or work there. I’m sure we’ll hear from and see her in the game

I think it would be really dumb for Square Enix & Deck Nine to make it so Max and Chloe broke up.

I really feel like this is a ridiculous fear😅 they're saving the Chloe is alive content for when the game comes out because they know it would be a big reveal. They've already said multiple times in trailers that the game will honor both decisions so of course they're going to acknowledge her. But just don't want to show it now. Whether she still together with Max is another question. People stress themselves way too much on the internet that's why I don't acknowledge them

Some of the comments reminded me why, while I love the first 2 games (1 and before the storm) I've had zero interest in being part of the fandom around them. I'm hoping the game is good and I want to give it a chance, but I find it bizarre how defensive certain fans are over the series lol.

I'm perfectly fine with Chloe not being in the game because her and Max are broken up. Because at the end of the day that's just life and life is strange. Max is far removed from that barely legal school girl she once was. I'm just genuinely excited to see how much Max has grown and changed. I wish more fans adopted that mindset. Instead of criticizing everything thing that isn't exactly how THEY feel like Max's life should be.

It's disingenuous marketing, plain and simple. They want people to pre-order the game but refuse to talk about one aspect that's the most important for a lot of fans.

If they did something to Chloe then I will literally boycott the series

I really think they don't want to talk about it because it is a huge part of the plot. Regardless of what ending you chose Max has major trauma around Chloe. That journal entry in the Caledon video has Max saying "Not again!" over and over. Seeing Safi shot would bring that trauma back regardless of the ending choice. Thinking about it from that perspective they haven't actually shown much of the actual plot at all. They also skipped to episode 2 for the game play and are hiding a good bit of the first episode. We got significantly more screen time with Moses but no other characters outside of heavily edited sequences.

I honestly keep going back and forth on this whole thing from cynic to optimist. Like it definitely would be a bad look to have Pricefield, THE beloved 10 years going iconic LGBT+ main pair, breakup off-screen, especially after LiS2-Bae path showed them years later still together penned by the OG canon makers at DontNod. While then also trying to shove in a new LGBT+ option with Amanda (who is completely and utterly lacking so far and just feels like a mainstream-ified Chloe-lite). As if suggesting that all LGBT+ is interchangeable and is fine to be tossed to the side for new ones per game or that it needs to be a sanitized/filtered version for a mainstream audience. Since Chloe is brash, outspoken, has legit frustrations with Max that certain people refuse to understand, and more futch/not traditional femme aligned vs. Amanda who so far seems femme-aligned & personable. BUT then there's them talking about hoping to continue with the series going forward which wouldn't happen after the blowback to that type of deception and betrayal of a large portion of the audience. Also the different way of explaining the stand-alone nature of DE that makes it not about disconnecting from the OG game, but that DE seeks to provide the info one needs on its own for whatever thus stands alone. There's also a theory that the 2 week window is the marketing for the game. Namely them keeping Chloe & Bae path mysterious so that when people that get the early access get to see them they lose their minds with hype & run to socials to shout to everyone about it. Word spreads and boom free marketing essentially, which theoretically could also lead to people forgetting about the frustration of the before that point.

Great video. You already featured some content from them but I'd highly suggest looking up the recent posts by NihilistStylist. They had a great analysis of what that disturbing journal entry means, they've been consolidating together interviews from the Developers, and they were the one who created the graphic featured in this same video. They touched up on something you've raised in prior vids. Specifically an interview with the developers where they noted that Max doesn't use her powers 'lightly' and that there's a rationale behind it. Lots of great insights from that user. In the past you had done a vid on their analysis of the Owl symbolism :)

I think chloe will appear in one of the two timelines. If you saved her, she'll be in the one where safi died. If you sacrificed her then she'll be in the one where safi is alive. Regardless of your ending, you might still see her anyway. Whether Chloe lives or dies doesn't effect Safi's life though. Safi will only die in the timeline where Max chose to live in. Max massed up with timelines so much in first game and probably made a supernatural (just like max) villian who kills safi for revenge.

According to the Deck Nine Directors of Life is Strange Double Exposure both endings from Life is Strange will be respected. So Chloe definitely CAN be alive in your Life is Strange Double Exposure game. For those not having save games from Life is Strange you can "import" certain Life is Strange settings into Life is Strange Double Exposure via a very early conversation between Max and Safi. Here Safi will ask a lot of questions about her past and you as the player can decide to answer what you like to import Life is Strange world state you want. I guess that we have only seen in trailers and game play the Chloe was sacrificed choice because that's what the directors want us to see to avoid revealing too much. For those who are afraid they can only play with the Arcadia Bay choice in Life is Strange you could ask the question: Why would Deck Nine not implement both options since they made such a big deal making the big choice in the first place. It's very easy for them to have both options viable since it doesn't take a lot of development to have 2 versions of journal entries and SMS messages. It takes a little more to implement multiple conversation options. However, the entire game is built of having a lot of different conversation trees based upon what you choose. So some extra won't matter much. What's more important to ask is whether Chloe will be appearing in the game as a character you can speak to if you choose the Chloe option in Life is Strange. If yes, then that means one or more chapters can branch out with exclusive content. That's a big task to do well, but e. g. Baldur's Gate 3 did it so well you can only experience a fraction of the total content in one play thru. Deck Nine are surely capable of doing something similar. However, it's possible they don't want to have Chloe as a main character in Life is Strange Double Exposure because if she was then Max would have less of a need to pursue her relationships with the main characters we know about like Safi and Moses. That's probably why we got the rumors that Max again broke the relationship with Chloe so they probably only communicate via phone, SMS and email. That is what I believe they chose to do. Anyway, we should have confidence in Deck Nine to not mess up the story line continuation since they decided to make another game with Max as the protagonist. They know their fans will check every little detail for mismatch in the story line just like they did when Life is Strange Before the Storm was released. The game developers love to give us red herrings to keep the suspension until the actual game release. So no need to worry until we have the real game in our hands.

I think people are really hitting the copium on this. I'm sure they'll register all endings but the amount of things they'd have to account for to do a big Chloe scene just for like half the players makes it highly unlikely they'll do it at all, especially when all that the Bay ending seems to get is social media trivia. Imo Bae fans are also kidding themselves if they think Max and Chloe would live happily ever after with the trauma that would come from witnessing, let alone choosing, an entire town's destruction, including the lives of Chloe's own mother and Max's other friends. It seems like a romantic ending in the moment, but there's no such thing as a perfect relationship and in the long run all that trauma would no doubt catch up to them. A break up doesn't really sound unrealistic when you get back down to earth. How would they also handle the new romance options? Would Chloe stans simply be locked out of that content from the get go? Think about it.

I hope Kate & Warren at least get name dropped. Because we already know Chloe will be. Kate was a main reason. I hesitated on saving Chloe in the end, that is until I convince myself, she was safe in the hospital, and not near Ground Zero of the tornado 🌪️.

I might be delulu, but my theory is that Max’s power will progress throughout the plot (the same way each power in LiS games evolves since it’s given), so she will be able to travel through multiple timelines (like it was in the comics) and both endings will be canon as different realities that we’ll be able to observe. For me it’s kinda weird to have shifting powers and travel only between two, so maybe we’ll start in a reality after the bay ending and somehow will get to the bae one

I hope Chloe makes a cameo appearance in Double Exposure.

I guess Chloe will be in the game anyway and it all comes down to two options: 1) ‘Chloe is alive’ and Decknine are saving all the bae content for the release. My imagination goes far and beyond here: I’m thinking not only photos and texts, but maybe small interaction scenes, real or flashbacks? Cos it’s pretty obvious that if Chloe was a solid part of the game, why wouldn’t they use her image for marketing? Then it seems she’s not in the same role as Max, so let’s hope for at least short cameo. 2) the second option is ofc they messed up the ‘presence’ part, and Chloe will be just a reference. I guess it’s sad, but I’m not disappointed. Their relationship with Max was so codependent (Max had to save her all the time), that I’m not surprised they split up 😂 grown-up shit. On the other hand, you don’t give up a person you’ve been through with a lot… So whether Chloe is with Max or not, I hope they will justify any storyline. P.S. Since Decknine already worked with Chloe on BTS, it could also affect their decision making for Double Exposure, in a good way or a bad way 😂 hope they didn’t get fed up with her character 🙏

As a guy who chose Arcadia over Chloe I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority like 40%, but what this tells me is that there’s a chance she might make an appearance if they’re keeping it under wraps especially considering more people are probably playing the version where Chloe lives but idk

I feel like there's just too much being spoiled in this game. In my opinion, this is a bad idea for deck nine to have the rights to life is strange. I really do not like this.

I love Chloe but to me, the most important character is Max and whether Chloe is in the game or not wouldn't affect me much.

I just hope the new power is good for gameplay. (I was a little underwhelmed with Deck Nine's take on "Backtalk" in BTS and empathy in True Colors.) In LiS 1 the rewind mechanic was fun to use, made for clever scenarios, and I liked how its themes could be comparable to similar movies like Back to the Future or Donnie Darko. If the writing is solid, there are a few good alternate-reality movies and shows Double Exposure could draw inspiration from.

I'm going play devils advocate, I always felt like chloe was a narcissist. I don't understand what moral person would sacrifice a whole town for one person. I don't mind chloe being dead.

My feeling is that we dont see Chloe because this Max chose save Arcadia. My theory is that another Max is out there, from the other timeline, and its this max that is with chloe. I wonder if this other Max is the killer of Safi. Might be to somehow preserve Chloe being alive. But because we start the game playing the Max who sacrificed Chloe, they dont have anything to show about Chloe without revealing later episodes. Also, my prediction is that in the conversation at the beginning of the game with Safi, we will not have the chance to specify chloe is alive, and that will upset everyone in the community, but bare with dont nod because thats the spin of the game, that max realises the other max exists, and is the killer, and that this other timeline is not only where safi is alive, but chloe too. So theres my theory :)

That makes perfect sense in all honesty i was super hyped for this game but now I'm super sceptical after seeing all the recent new info I want this game to succeed but I have a strong suspicion it's not going to...

I think the game could possibly be doing something like you and Chloe are not necessarily long distance but max wants to go to college and open up her circle a bit so she goes to the University and meets one of the potential love interest for this game has a couple of scenes with them And then Chloe comes back and then the choice at the end could be whether or not you embrace your future at Caledon or you decide to face your past and go back with Chloe just a theory

It’s bc saving Arcadia bay WAS the canon ending. I sacrificed Chloe in my play through and I feel like that ending was the real ending. Cool that they gave us a choice to save Chloe if you wanted to.

I personally do think Chloe is in the game and that their not broken up. But if they are......are we really surprised? Let's be realistic here Chole was a bad friend....and honestly toxic. So them breaking up is realistic.

I'm a huge LIS fan, and I'd love to say Chloe's in most of the game and they want to keep it a surprise... BUT I really don't think that's the case. At most, we'll hear from Chloe through text messages and we'll get either a phone call or an actual appearance from her at the end of the game. For anyone expecting more, look at the marketing, this is a Max game, NOT a Max & Chloe game. The fandom really needs to temper their expectations here, it's possible Max & Chloe could be making things work long distance, or they could be taking a break. I KNOW, it's not what I'd want either, but it would be the easiest way to explain Chloe's absence and it is something that happens to couples in the real world - the sort of thing LIS has never shied away from. We will definitely still see/hear from Chloe in some form, but yes some people are likely to be disappointed if they're expecting a lot of Chloe. As for why they're hiding it, WHAT DO YOU ALL EXPECT THEM TO DO??? They KNOW we want Chloe. Regardless of how much or little she's in it, do you really expect them to show those parts before the game releases? that would be the worst marketing strategy ever!
