Let's also not forget that the Beatles brought music to the airwaves as opposed to listening to serials on the radio. For 4 young lads to allow us into their world of musical genius is truly great
I^m from ArgentinoA,George Harrison ,the best player^s guitar of the world in the sixties, only compared with Carlos Santana ,it was so painfull he had died too young, he always concentrated in his black guitar when he was a beatle -I love you George
Everyone has their favorite Beatle. They were collectively the best, and individually, they were great as well. An amazing group of musicians and songwriters we won't see the like again....
@@johnwreagan I don't divide music into genres, that's what weak-minded metalheads like you do. George was good, but most of the best songs in the Beatles were written by Paul and no one can dispute that. Not to mention his contribution to the songs of other beatles.
He wrote some great songs, that's for sure. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is in my personal top 5 Beatles songs. "Something" is in my top 20. But yeah, I agree, John and Paul were a tough bar to clear to call him "the best" and the problem is not with the quality of his songs (they are all great, if you ask me), but with quantity. For each of his awesome songs you have a couple dozen amazing songs written by either Paul or John, so it's kinda an unfair comparison.
He was the baby of the group, 13 when they started messing around with instruments together. He always seemed to have a bit of otherworldly innocence to me.
His son Danny is apple off tree . Some country player out there wont mention name hes hurting bad enough.but feeds off alot of others talents, cant make up if hes gonna play own . He's all over the place with soul , rock and roll tries mexican really flunked there. sings not knowing what words mean
My mother's and mine too. We play different instruments but love harmony and melody. I can only go as low as a high alto range tops. She might be able to hit lower. Those who exercise their soft palate regularly are less likely to snore. She has so many talents I wish I had a fraction of. When I lose her, may I see her "in my dreams" playing with George. May it give her love and peace having jam sessions that will let her see herself as I have incredibly talented and a brilliant composer and teacher in her own right. She was very particular about which artist out of each band she liked and even the instruments. May she find her mother in law and mom playing music to guide her way to find the "sun, [and show her] it's alright..." I find that so many still don't know the extent of his music and writing and even comedy with several bands, as an individual artist, in collaboration with others, and what role he played in Monty Python humor and music...the loss that creates the sound of silence that renders you stuck in time. If only certain greats could be in a time capsule as opposed to politicians, criminals, capitalists, and the vicious hearted and minded. "If I fell in love with you..." Blackbird was the 2nd song I learned how to play on one instrument though the version was by a different artist it lead me back to a library where things are free including sheet music books. The great works of the Beatles. I didn't always choose easy songs to try and learn but music theory would have destroyed my enjoyment of the one instrument the other I only played when I was young though not hard to learn you do need air which at the time of renting it, it was impossible to get. Moody's inspired me to play that one.
Right from the start, way back on February 9th, 1964, George was my favorite Beatle. With The Beatles, and as a solo artist, his music was sensitive, introspective, and beautiful. It saddens me to tears that he’s been gone from us for 20 years now.
gone 19 years today. Hard to believe 19 years have gone by since you were in this world George. You wrote one of my favorite love songs and my favorite of all the Beatles songs. Something is truly one of the great love songs of the 20th Century. Even The Chairman of The Board recorded! Thank you George Harrison!!!
George Harrison was a true genius as a song writer. Here are just a few of his creations. 1. Something 2. Here Comes the Sun 3. All Those Years Ago 4. While My Guitar Gently Weeps 5. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace) 6. Taxman 7. If I Needed Someone 8. What is Life 9. Blue Jay Way 10. It's All Too Much Yeah!! He was talented songwriter. Sinatra was correct in his observation of Harrison's composition of "Something". It may be the greatest love song of the century.
@@jacksonfreedno, George is singing, as for the lead guitar, they take turns, first solo at the end is George's, second solo (longer) is Clapton's, the vibrato and bendings tells you who's playing.
Scott Brewer: Yes. It is amazing. That's George doing the intro. Brilliant. (you can see him doing the intro solo on other Japan live concert video and the Prince's Trust).
Hermosa composición ,digna de George Harrison el Beatle ,introvertido pero talentoso los seres que decimos raros son extraordinarios sin tanto hablar, dan maravillosos mensajes ,sin maquillajes sin tanto bla,bla mis respetos a George.
I am a total Beatle Maniaic. Saw the Beatles in 1964 at the Hollywood Bowl. I am crushed at the deaths of George and John. Thank you Beatles for the best years of my life.
Lucky bastard! By which I mean...well done, Sir ;) Can I ask, do you / did you ever buy into the 'Paul is Dead' theory? AKA that the real Paul was replaced circa Sept 1966 with Billy Shears (AKA 'Faul' - or fake Paul?) I happen to know someone (vaguely) who is very closely involved with Paul; he's recorded 3 albums with him. I'm very much looking forward to asking him for his opinion, once I've investigated it all a bit more. The scope of that theory / story, and all the ripples outward, is MASSIVE. And I've been interested in stuff like this for several decades. I'm not saying there's anything there...but who knows?
FWIW, I have a musician friend called Dave. He knew Paul and all the Beatles right through the sixties, hung out with them, occasionally stayed overnight with some of them and dropped into lots of recording sessions. Dave says the "Faul" myth is the single most stupid thing he's ever heard.
Stunning guitar work, just superb. Harrison on the fabulous intro and first solo followed immediately by Clapton's unmistakable Strat, then Harrison closes on the outro. Just an awesome pairing of legends..
In my opinion Something is one of the greatest songs of modern era, I have gone off Clapton in recent years but in this piece he helps to elevate this tune to even greater heights.
@@thewaysofnature good? Lol. The greatest player from his generation. The most influential, revered and imitated guitarist of all. The man set the bar so high that few if any will come close.
@@thewaysofnature lol. Clapton was on another level then Hendrix, before Hendrix was even know! Hendrix was in awe of Clapton. Clapton is on another level then Hendrix in touch, phrasing, feel snd knowledge of the blues. Prince was not even in the same Stratosphere as Clapton with 102 fever and 2 broken arms. Prince was around long enough to know that he was never in the same discussion as EC on any level of guitar capacity.
@@thewaysofnature No, im just going by what BB and Buddy said about EC. Both said he was on another level then his hereos. EC to the blues that the phenomenal founder's created and brought to a world wide audience, at a level of musicianship that was on another level. I think BB and Buddys opinions are a little more relevant and knowledgeable then yours. I just have to listen and see to know that EC surpassed the greats. I watch the amazing Freddie King, and then watch EC version's of his songs Torn down, Have you ever loved a woman, and others and realize that Clapton's playing and vocals are the gold standard! Just watch his From the cradle shows and the Martin Scorsese documentary nothing but the blues featuring EC. It is the finest display of blues playing and vocals ever laid down.
I hear ya. When this was a hit back in 1969, I was at a Junior High School dance. My cute girlfriend and I had our FIRST ever slow dance in our life's. Which led to our FIRST ever real kiss, right on the gym floor. At almost 65 yrs old I still remember that dance and kiss. Love to be 14 yrs old again and dancing on the gym floor. Years later I saw her and I said to her, "You remember "Something"? She said, "Yes I will never forget that dance and our 1st kiss."
Frank Sinatra said about SOMETHING. " It's one of the best loved songs i believe to be written in 50 or 100 years and it never says i love you. ... It truly is one of the greatest love songs. " I agree with Mr. Sinatra. Mr. George Harrison is enjoying in heaven!! Thank you so much for all your musical contribution to the world!!! Regards from León México
@@stevejoshua9536 oh you sure have that right ...it caused a lot of people to join that evil cult, and ruined a lot of peoples lives...some even died as a result...Too bad he wasn't evolved enough in his mind to see past all that, I think he was trapped for a while and disillusioned by the 60's in that the flower children "failed" to change the World, and so a lot of people felt guilty, and went into the cult thing big time..George got trapped into that , because he really thought it was actually a "holy" movement , (the Hare Kyrshnas) ..at the time, there was this really big interest in India, and the religions of India, the Far East, etc.. as it was the 60's, so George, living in the UK.... nowhere near the USA, didn't know a thing about all the horrid suffering that was going on with all the corruption, and the child abuse, sexual abuse, sleep deprivation, food addictions, and other forms of mind control they used to control the people in their cult...George, I am sure didn't know the leaders of the cult, killed their guru , (the old guru from India who started the whole thing).....I think the old man was cool, he was really a "holy" man, because he wanted to give all away freely, ...food, clothing, shelter, books, etc...but his followers were evil, and decided to kill him, with very high levels of arsenic....over a long period of time....and cash in on the profits, literally "cash in"...They built a "Palace of Gold" in the USA , (in west Virginia...I think)...Some were killed there, at that Palace, along with many abuses, etc..Some arrests were made, and bodies found buried there, on.. or rather "in".. the Palace grounds, so, pretty scary stuff....sounds like a horror film..I am sure George had no knowledge of the kind of people that were in the leadership, parading around with shaved heads, long robes, with "holy" beads etc, chanting all day and all night long, and ..saying "Hare Kryshna" like the nazis said "Heil Hitr" to each other, going through all these motions , pretending to be "holy" people, real "gurus" etc, but were in fact , very very evil....
He was as prolific as Paul and John. But they rarely let him put his songs in the Beatles albums. Just check the Discography of George after the Beatles break up to see how talentet George really was
Why does the first 34 seconds make me want to tear up 😢 is it because of how beautiful the intro solo is or is it the feeling of not having George around anymore
But try to understand, try try to understand this song is not magic for me. I die each time i hear it. i really dislike the guitar weeping sound and everything really about it. The only songs i love by Great George are If I needed someone - his best Don't Bother Me Here comes the Son My Sweet Lord. i hate everything about Something .. Loved his guitar normally. And he sung John Lennon tunes like Happy just to dance with you .. great.
Ya no Tengo Dudas, George Harrison, Fue El Mejor, De los 4, Beatles, Realmente, Fue ,Sensacional,, QEPD....Es Muy Sensible, Su Temprana Partida... gracias 😊 chao Amiga.
@@ani-keithteeluckdharry7413 Obviously, she was one hot Lady. Two of the greatest love songs, written by two different geniuses were composed in her honor.
Add George Martin to that list too. I think by the time they got to Let It Be (early '69), they all knew George was an incredibly competent songwriter. Unfortunately, George was not always given the encouragement by the others (aside from Ringo perhaps) that they should have. The entire group knew Something and Here Comes The Sun were fine and worthy compositions.
George took a while to develop as a songwriter, but toward the end of the band he was on par and sometimes even a better songwriter than John and Paul. Exhibit A.
Gente, passa um flashback inteirinho na cabeça de vocês quando toca essa música?? E nessa versão chega dá vontade de chorar. Essa é a melhor música do George.
@@diegoferrari3341 i play guitar for Over 20 years. Clapton is a master. But George is much more original and concise in his playing, he says a LOT more than Clapton with less. No wasted notes or unnecessary cliche blues pentatonic repetitive phrases like Clapton. Plus superior tone from Harrison. Beatles with Clapton would’ve never been the great band they were
Anyone who actually listens to George’s individual work DOES NOT believe that a lot of his songs were “rubbish.” He wrote dozens of great songs so I don’t get the belittling of his songwriting that some people indulge in. My playlist of favorite George songs takes hours to listen to and then, because I like it so much, I listen to it again.
Listening this song Made me think about how wonderful person was George Harrison, great singer, songwriter, one of the greatest musician we ever know. Rest in peace that our sweet Lord Jesus be with you in the day of the resurrection.🙏🏻♥️🌹
CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THE GOLDEN BOYS HAD ACTUALLY ALLOWED GEORGE TO SING AND CONTRIBUTE HIS TALENTS? HE WAS RIGHT TO LEAVE WHEN HE DID.LOVE YOU GEORGE.XX
Something in the way she moves Attracts me like no other lover Something in the way she woos me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how Somewhere in her smile she knows That I don't need no other lover Something in her style that shows me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how You're asking me will my love grow I don't know, I don't know You stick around and it may show I don't know, I don't know Something in the way she knows And all I have to do is think of her Something in the things she shows me I don't want to leave her now You know I believe and how
First time I've teared up listening to this song; just thinking about how it's been all these years since he passed and what might've been had he stayed with us.
This is my new favorite recording of this song. It seems George had to be out from under John's and Paul's thumb to play it his way. This is wonderful. You have a fabulous collection of pictures, and I thank you for sharing them. 💟
I miss you George ... you were an awesome person , musician, and man who lived with always being pulled from the other Beatles as a great contribution ❤️
Musically this is probably the best version of this song of them all. The complementing guitars give it a depth that even the studio recorded version didn't have. And it's not Harrison or Clapton - it''s the combination ... synergy (the combination being greater than the sum of its parts)
George's best song, of course, but Paul's bass arrangement - which the bassist here kind of follows, but a little randomly - is important enough to merit a co-writing credit. I like the studio version better in every respect. George should also have had co-writer credit on a number of L-M songs.
01:01 and 01:28 my fav shots of George. If I could model myself and/or be any guitarist, it would be George Harrison. Without all the high expectations of the "heavy" guitarists, I just love his humble, unassuming nature.
