I would love to see more photos of you before you started dressing up for your body type. These few photos here helped me see what a huge difference there is in you now and it's very practicaly educating
I'm a little miffed at kibbe body types for being like, oh yeah, you can be short and be a classic, but you can't be a tall classic. Yet again stereotyping all women as tiny. I'm 5ft 9 which is, yes, tall for a woman, but I don't feel like the prescribed "tall" styles suit me at all.
Honestly all I can reccomend is flared and belted coats, dresses, or just prioritising warmth and making sure your hair makeup and accessories are good haha
Scarves OVER tops rather than turtlenecks underneath, wrap sweaters that show your curve help too. I'm SD and I know, winter is tricky for curves 😑 I do often wear *thin* thermals underneath my jeans or pants, and sweaters. And I love a sweater dress!!
Same as in this video, this can be used for any soft type (although SN might not like constricting turtle necks) I’ve accepted that summer and spring are my seasons too look good as an R, in my country it’s too cold to accentuate curve in any way 🤣
@@plant_12 Shirts in Winter must mean you are in a warm country 😅 I do layering with merino underwear for inside and with skiing underwear for outside + fleece lined tights are my go-to‘s A lot of bulk and not comfortable, for me
Could you please do a video solely for tall people? I know we only fall into a few categories but I can’t figure out which ones and how to differentiate! Help please!
from what I've learned so far - round toe boots (no platforms), non-chunky sweaters (look for cashmere and merino wool, it's super warm even if the material is form fitting), fur details on clothing and accessories, wearing thick fleece leggings in a nude color under see through black tights, to create the illusion of lightness (which 200 dernier black tights are the opposite of), layering that's close to the skin and not visible under your form fitting clothes
I’m an SD too and I don’t think I would wear this. I struggle with looking severe and I think a sweater vest would make me look like a fat, grumpy librarian 🤣
@@lydiag8368 hahahha yeah I was thinking the same thing. Sweaters in general are difficult for me to wear without looking bulky or frumpy. Fitted sweaters are good though. But I was wondering about the layering effect.
I do not like cardigans but belting does work. I like to wear slightly oversized longer vests and sweaters with a turtleneck underneath and a chunky, tonal belt at the waist. This would drown a lot of people or the belt would look random but I really feel like it works on a soft dramatic frame. It has sharpness, waist accommodation and large detail. Plus if you choose the right pieces it doesn't look matronly or dated like a lot of the suggestions for soft dramatics tend to
I wish you could see my body type and tell me what to do because I honestly just don’t know at this point. Every time I see myself in pictures I look so frumpy and dumpy. Mom jeans just don’t flatter me at all and make me look shapeless, especially if I’m wearing a coat with them.
I wear monochrome layers. Brown pants, brown turtleneck, brown vest (not the sweater one, not my style). Then I'll add brown shoes, sweater and jacket if it's very cold.
I think I am theatrical romantic, and the way i get around this is by wearing a cropped, form fitting, high neck sweater vest this hits exactly at my waist, with a loose shirt under that. Still shows curve but gets the vibe of the look. Got the top from uniqlo. Love your channel! X
Everyone Wear What you want and what you feel comfortable In It doesn’t matter what body type or color wear what you like and slay because Short people can wear long dresses and still look beautiful for example
I can definitely wear the turtleneck and cardigan combo! I’m a SN with especially broad and muscular shoulders from trades labor. For so long I wanted to be able to wear Gamine silhouette outfits, but looking back now, I can see they looked so ridiculous on my long, broad-shouldered sturdy frame 😂🙈
While being true that classics are usually more flattered with less layering and simpler outfits, saying a piece just doesn't work for your type is, IMO, assuming that piece can't be done with other fabric, details, color, etc. You could use vests, you just need to find the right one (probably one more fit and less "trendy potato bag" lol Maybe a softy tailored one?).
What if you don't like showing off your body and emphasizing curves in every outfit? But apparently that's the only way for clothes to look flattering on a soft classic? I think I'm a soft classic but everything I've seen that's recommended for this type just feels so limiting, like only one specific style will work otherwise you'll look ugly. Maybe it's cuz the style recommended for soft classics is not my style for the most part. I guess I'll just have to settle for apparently looking gross and just wear clothes that I actually want to wear.
Can anyone help me understand how I can apply this info to my body? I have wide shoulders a bigger bust but thin legs and not as curvy on the bottom. I like cable knits but am finding it makes me look body if I don’t have a waistline
Ruching and draping across the abdomen I have heard help. There's a SD on RU-vid named Nes Kim and she had a video with suggestions. I imagine they could be adapted to any curvy/soft type. If you're SC I have a SC friend who looks amazing in shift dresses in a more structured fabric. She also wears her pencil skirts a bit higher waisted and a size larger, this conceals her belly and maintains her overall balance. She's a phenomenal dresser.
Wait large and angular…so soft dramatic would look okay in these? I’m a curvy SD with excess weight. I was thinking I’d look pretty bad in the same things you would, but my bones are prominent and I’m tall…?
Maybe this is part of why I hate layering!! SG here. I can do like an open vest over a tight top but when I do too many boxy layers on top of a tight top it just immediately overwhelms me. Plus I have a nice chest and waist that looks better when you can see it, not when I put a sack over it which adds 10 pounds lol. Less is more, easy does it.
it looks rlly good on me so i like it! but yeah i get it if it doesn’t do you justice but sometimes trying to modify the trend to look good on you works good
I haven't had a problem wearing things that look flattering as a romantic but I'm about to start working in k-12 education and have no idea how to dress in a modest, appropriate and professional way that doesn't make me look ridiculous. If anyone has any style recommendations please!
I’m a teacher and for a romantic body type I would say don’t shy away from your curves and waist emphasis. They’re not going to make you look overtly sexy. The thing you should be very wary of is anything that might cause cleavage; you’ll likely be bending over at many points throughout the day and people may notice. Mid calf length skirts and dresses would also look adorable on your type- I also find myself gravitating toward vintage styles because they’re often both modest and flattering
@@CagetheBlonde Thank you so much for responding! I have recently been looking at vintage dresses, so you saying this has given me the confidence to try them! I recently bought a mid-calf skirt and really like it. I've never been able to pull off really long skirts because of my height so I think mid-calf is the way to go. Thank you again!
I think it’s very cool that you mentioned these styles don’t work for you or your body type but didn’t shame the people wearing them! 🎉 Way to go! Every body type looks good in different clothing and figuring out that and my color tones has made me return a whole lot less to the store. 😊
omgg i am also soft classic! and this makes so much sense. i love layering, but for sure i have to be careful of things that end up making me look frumpy. I’m also a bit tall and not very curvy, so those looks really downplay my femininity, which might be fine for some, but isnt what I’m going for!! Thanks :)
I’m really having trouble finding my body type. I have the body of a dramatic but I do have also wide hips and my face is not in line with the dramatics at all. I have more of a Marilyn Monroe face. I do have fuller lips a very small nose and larger eyes. Please help
Ignore the face, you might want to turn to essence for that. Kibbe doesn't type based on the face any more because the types are about what lines flatter a body. Now look at the again but pay attention to what looks best on it. If long, sharp, narrow lines look best on you, you might still be a dramatic. That is possible with wider hips as long as the hip is wide from bone, not flesh. If you are long, sharp and narrow in your bones but need long, softer lines and look frumpy if you don't show your waist line, you might be a skinny soft dramatic. Not all soft dramatics have huge curves, just think Rachel Weisz
It’s the outfit inspo that she cannot take inspo in. She is showing an outfit that looks good on the model but not her personally. Does that make sense?
@@tammystiletto yeah, thanks. I guessed it was not her cause when she showed herself, she didn't look as good in that kind of outfit. But the model's hair resembles hers, so she kind of looked alike and I got confused a little ahaha
