SOMETHING IS MISSING from this ABANDONED BIG KMART 

Worked for Kmart in the 90's. My store was built in 1969 and went out in the early 2000's. I own the heavy brass grand opening plaque and the 1969 garden shop turquoise and white porcelain sign and the sign is long! Plus a few other goodies from my days working there. And seen the cart thing at night in the parking lot by people with their cars.

This Kmart looks big enough to be a Super K

You know, even though they were basically Band-Aid fixes, Floyd Hall did a lot to try and save Kmart in the mid-90's. First, he renegotiated a bond payment that was coming due at a time they were losing money, that had it been called would have led to bankruptcy in 1995. Then, he sold off the Canadian division, as well as all the other non-Kmart assets. Then, he introduced Big Kmart with the new Pantry section (ie small grocery stores in every store), as well as contracted with Olan Mills to run their portrait studio, Penske to run their auto center, Little Caesar's to run their K Cafe, and introduced new clothing lines like Route 66, and Martha Stewart Collection. Only problem is, he didn't fix their distribution problem which is why when he left, and Conaway tried to have a price war with the devil, suppliers couldn't keep up, because Kmart was still outdated internally. In the end all Floyd Hall did was delay the inevitable which was bankruptcy. It's a shame too, Kmart in the 70's and 80's just had it in terms of the discount department store, only to lose it in the 90's.

I worked at the Subway that used to be right down the street by Fishers for 5 years. Havent been down that way in a long time. I had no idea that K-Mart was closed. In fact, the last time I drove by, my friend asked how they were still open. Now I only go to Massillon for Great Escape and I take 30-21.

Nice update to the Big K. I been meaning to drive by this one for months. I want to make a return to Warren. The blue sky with white clouds make it look so cool.

I love that person at 10:28 who just casually races by XD. I've actually visited two former Kmarts which both actually had a garden shop about half the size of this one. Usually don't see them super small.

This Kmart has as wide of a view from the outside as a Home Depot!😆 I wonder if those two unknown rectangle side by side label scars are: "photo lab" or:"photo pickup". It's not shaped to say Plan Mills. (Forgive me if I'm commenting before you mention what it is later in the video.because I'm only halfway into the video🙃).

I miss going into my local Kmart the same company that owns this Kmart building also owns the one in beckley it took them forever after magic mart went out of business since went into there for couple months and closed down for some reason the people that owns the building in beckley wants someone to rent the whole building

Let me tell you a story my aunt back in the late 90s worked at a Kmart in Shelby mi and my grandma worked at the Kmart in Detroit in outer drive that I think closed in the 90s it’s crazy because I wanted my first job to be Kmart but know it’s to late 1 Kmart left near me it’s sad

The super k Mart in Homewood Illinois became a super Walmart. The one in Tinley park Illinois is still abandoned and being used as a storage lot for a nearby car dealership.
