Hey man it might be Bottle Jaw. Google it. I had a few goats that broke out with the same thing back in 2019. Ones face was swollen then a couple days later another goats face was the same way. We finally figured out it was bottle jaw. Not saying that’s exactly what it is but look into it.
Danielle, can you get some normal saline for initial wound cleaning? Also, do you have any stinging nettle, poison ivy, oak, or sumac that the girls could have gotten into? Just a thought since there were no visible wounds on Big Mama and Karen.

There is goat virus/disease that goats can get and pass to one another… also to other farm animals. I can’t recall the name… but it just happened to Doss Farm in NE Oklahoma. They had to keep animals away from the goats (it spread to the others), then they had to get rid of all the goats so it didn’t spread to the cows etc. It swells their face / neck area.
Poor goats. I hope they get better soon. Could it be ants or something they ate when they were out? They eat brush, where snakes hang out and Jason got bit too so sounds like snakes?
The swelling could be due to low blood protein caused by a stomach round worm (wireworm, brown or barber pole worm). If you havent already may be a good time to wrom them, but i'm sure yall have probably already done that. However, given that they both are doing it suddenly at the same time makes me wonder if they have eaten something they werent supposed to. My first thought was a snake bit also but with it suddenly happen to Karen also would be a lil weird for both to have gotten bitten, but not impossible,. Not impossible they could of gotten into a hive of bees. Hope they get better

You should check the plants they free range on. Maybe grab a sample of every different one in their free-range area and do some research. Maybe it's an allergy to a plant too!
I bet there is a yellow jackets nest in the ground somewhere in or near the goat pen. That looks like bee stings to me. My dog got stung and swelled up just like that.
Jason: a possible cause? Bottle Jaw - Caused by animal being infected with bloodsucking worms. Fluids are leaking from blood vessels and flow to the lower parts of the body. As the animal grazes during the day, the fluids build up in the head. Over night the fluids may partially drain away from the head. Lower face and jaw will dramatically swell especially during the evening. Gums may not have the normal color because of being anemic. Your worming medicine may not be effective or you may not have wormed recently. The animal needs to be wormed with a strong medication every 11 days for three times. It may also be anemic and need iron and vitamins given. Their system will have difficulty fighting off problems so you should use an antibiotic for several days to help.
I'm going with snake or yellow jackets. Swelling of the stung area/bite area, no visible skin breakage, no visible pus pockets caused by CLL. Keep a close eye on them please. Love ya'll ❤️

Check the goats bedding area...but be careful. Have your pewpew ready. Unless you are 100% sure that a snake is not poisonous then personally I do away with them..especially if one has animals. Its not like there is a snake shortage in this world...lol.

We don't have snakes like you but goats put their faces into everything they eat. We have mean ground bees. They are mean & usually you get stung by more than one. Like Jason said you have snakes & many farms reporting cats & dogs plus farm animals having been bitten & swollen bad. Feel bad when they can't tell you what happened & you know they are miserable. Before this year it was rare to have it happen but it has been a bad year for the animals.
