This video is set in 1937 during the Stalinist purges. The secret police had total power. They executed millions of people--not just their political enemies, but also ethnic minorities who they considered "untrustworthy." This video shows he is a musician and she is a dancer. Musicians, dancers, and artists were among those falsely accused of crimes and executed. His song Daididau was written by a Kazakh dissident writer, poet, scientist and teacher, Mazhan Zhumabaev, who was arrested and murdered during one of these purges in 1938.

In this horror, in this piercing cold, in this crime, the love of two people is born, as if they did not come from this world. The screen going black before the gunshot helps keep the focus on the attitude of evil, who doesn`t know to do anything other than hurt, successfully or not - instead of who the NKVD agent managed to hit or not. That gunshot remains ringing in the dark, making it timeless, leaving us with a bitter taste, and making it a powerful reminder of historical brutality.

Unfortunately Di posted the backstage footage on his Instagram this morning showing part of his death scene that was deleted from the ending so we know he took the bullet shielding her with his body. I wouldn't predict more of the same from Dimash, he loves experimenting with music and it could well be metal next time! 🤣 We never know what to expect from him. After all, last year he sandwiched the premier of Fly Away right between Stranger and Ave Maria.

It’s not a new side, he has other pop songs and epic music videos, you just haven’t watched them yet. He sings all genres, this isn’t a new direction. You should watch the “Be With Me” official music video, it’s like a mini action movie.

All his songs and especially the MV’s have a deeper meaning. I love this one so much. It’s one of my favorites. The MV is about the time during Stalin’s repression in 1937. Back then, the secret police could do whatever they wanted. I think this officer for some reason was looking for Dimash’s character and then forced his girlfriend into some kind of relationship. She had to endure it to protect the love of her life. Realizing that she never stopped loving Dimash’s character, the officer ended it in his own way. There are backstage photos of Dimash collapsing in the arms of that girl😭. OMG he’s such a great actor too. Dimash also has done a music video for the movie, Creators. The song is a studio performance called Endless Dimensions! It is 1 of my personal favorites. He also has sung this in live performances also.

I know you haven't seen too many of his performances yet but having a beat behind his music is not at all unusual. Everything from pop to hip Hop to rock to EDM style. Don't worry there's a lot more to come and just a hint for you, you try to stay away from terms like "the usual" because everything he does is different from what he did before. He really doesn't have any usual style and no box is available to put him in except his own.

Try his official music video Be With Me, and also Qairan Elim. The first is Dimash a la James Bond, with a light touch;--he wrote the music for it. The second is a sort of prayer for his country and by extension the world, made during the height of CoVid There is a lot of symbolism in that one, and Dimash co-directed it. Both different, and highly professional productions.

Actually... Not OK, when abuse of power tears lives & loves apart. By drawing us deep into the storyline Dimash insists that we are engaged - that we care.

I think the Officer may be using her to get to Dimash's character in this one. It's obviously set during a wartime scenario & he's probably a freedom fighter or some such. Makes sense to me anyway. The awful ending is out there & Dimash actually got shot but it was decided not to use that in the end.
