Noah LOVES a good challenge and usually comes out on top when presented w/one. I love his charisma! This boy Issam may push Noah to new heights--will be fun to watch. Issam has a very strong and fast stride--clearly talented.

Ran against this kid at the Missouri class 2 State meet he beat me in the 200m, he was 1st I was 2nd. Great to see he’s where I thought he’d be. He broke every single record in every event he ran in. Special kid with great genetics from his Olympian parents. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

I think what's most impressive is the time he ran at his age. A time that puts him in contention in pretty much any race he was in, if he's actually allowed to run in them. Noah Lyles has never really been that strong of a 100m runner, so I won't overreact just became he got beat in it. But if anything could motivate him to get more serious about the 100m, like he says he wants to, this would certainly do it.

I'm going to say what no one else wants to say but what all really high end athletes are thinking. First of all, is this kid really just 18 or 17? Secondly the fact that him and his female counterpart at Monte Verde have BOTH ran near world leading times as high schoolers really brings into question what's really going on. One great athlete? Ok, in get it. Assinga was having trouble breaking 10.9s this time last year, literally. 3 of his first 5 100m races last year were 10.9 and most of his 200m races were 22 ish. Less than a year later he's running near world leader status? Same with Hodges, she's running mid 23s in the 200m all last year. No one knew who she was on this level and all of a sudden she runs a 22.33, 4th in the world? As a 16 year old junior? I'm curious to see what they all do when they are on a 'real' track in a 'real' race that's official as a real pro event like diamond leagues or worlds type events. I find it hard to believe these times are not something suspicious to say the least. Yeah, call me a hater. Whatever.. but I've been doing this for 30 years and when FloJo ran the way she did everyone said 'hold on' and when Ben Johnson smoked the field everyone said 'hold on' ... 0.6m wind is not much over the limit. I get he beat Lyles will be the argument but no pro is in form yet. Lyles isn't even close to being where he's going to be. Even in their state finals for high school Assinga was running high 21.95. That's not even 10.5 months ago. His 100m was 10.69. He ran 10.97 on May 7th in his state sectionals race with 0.7m wind in his face, basically nothing. How is someone who is rational supposed to take this? I love greatness, I truly do but he seems like he is 1.5 years ahead of where he should be. I guess the thought would be, he should break the world record in everything without a second thought. He's by far FAR FAR the greatest high school track athlete of all time and Hodges is probably the best female athlete of all time after what they've done.

Wow! He officially holds the fastest 100 meter time ever recorded in high school under all conditions. 9.83 is absolutely a dream for any high school athlete to ever run, let alone a sub 10. This is absolutely absurd and very commendable!

He won't even be 19 until December 29. Kid is spectacular, so excited to keep watching him. They need to get a good race for these guys with legal wind, so they can set the records that they deserve to hold.

Some of these next generation sprinters are unbelievable. I was a sprint coach for a number of years and had some great sprinters, but Knighton and this young man are way over the top.

This is setting up the scene for a "Must Watch" 2023 track season. The Jamaican, Canadian & other men have gotten stronger but it looks like the USA has stepped up to meet all of their challenges. Can't wait until the World's this summer. The kids are coming.

So this guy has gone from 6.86 to 6.57 tying a national record, 22.30 to 20.48 smashing the high school record indoors. 20.76 to 20.11 outdoors just off the record and now from 10.44 to 9.93 basic outdoors in one year? This is beyond sus.

That’s the beauty of competitive athletics, there’s really is no “one guy or gal”. On any given day somebody can come out and do something “outrageous”! The sport (track and field) is evolving, the competitors are constantly pushing each other “to better”. Most of all, there’s no room for big mouths and bragging, all the “talking” happens with “the feet on the track”, the performance. Last time was Erriyon Knighton making his debut. Now it’s Assam Asinga throwing his hat in the ring, 9.83 😮. The field just keeps on getting deeper. Not to mention Lyles, Kerley, Bromell, AND Michael Norman is moving from the 400m to the 100m ~ a lot to watch! If you thought track may get boring bec Bolt is gone, think again! It’s moving on!

Erriyons record doesn’t count towards the high school list because when you go pro you forego your eligibility, hence the reason why Knighton isn’t listed as the 200m Hs record holder

Definitely have to give props to Asinga. He's run some serious times, so he appears to be the real deal. Probably shouldn't read too much into this just yet, though, as far as Lyles is concerned, because he's obviously looking to peak for this summer's World Championships in Budapest. Lyles is always at his best in the big meets when it matters most. In fact, this loss might just inspire him, just like Knighton's 19.49 inspired him last season, and we saw what happened after that.

That looks like Clermont.,near Orlando, maybe 10-12 years ago? I was competing there, it was one of those "last chance" meets for qualifying times, and they ran a 100 meters with not one big name runner ( though someone super fast like Walter Dix was supposed to run ) and I think everyone or at least 7 out of the 8 ran 10.2 something or faster. ......Florida.

9.83 was gold and a world recored in the Atlanta Olympics '96

Impressive and everyone is beatable, and with Noah, his brother had beaten him too and you can't win all the time, but he will figure it out because he has a heart of a champion so the young sprinter reminds me of Knighton, but we will have to witness what he can do. Question ❓ what school does he attend and is he an American sprinter or another country sprinter, just asking? Like I said before, I only cheered for the American athletes because I am biased, but the young teenager deserves his accolade: well done 👍!!!
