Hiya, we think we are so clever now with our wireless, noise-cancelling headphones, but look at that bailer, how clever the design and build. Your tractor, thanks to was it Dr Diesel, anyway I believe a German engineer who found by putting the right amount of his fuel and air together, compress it in the correct way, and it explodes turning the crank and giving you high power at low cost. A very clever man, and many years ago. Go on spoil it by telling me it's a gasoline engine? Yes, we are doing well at inventing now, but don't write off the past. Great video, fun to watch, thank you. Stay safe, Steve...
Fantastic.........We (my Son & I) are in the Hay business, We started 6 years ago . We row cropped Cotton & peanuts. but were asked by the landowner if we wanted to take over his 80 acres of hay because he was displeased with the current renter.... Long Story Short.... We purchased A New Disc cutter, Tedder, Rake, Round Baler.....First ever Crop 1000 4x5 round Bales sold right out the field... for $50,00 each to a Hay Broker.....Next year 1200 bales, sold to Farmer who Converted rounds to squares for TSC...... Next Year bought complete rebaling setup from farmer......Sold or traded everything connected with row crops........ Sprigged our entire farm in Tifton 44 hybrid Bermuda grass....... This year we have so far put 2000 bales under 4 60x120 sheds... Also upgraded from a 5070 NH baler/200 Bale Bandit to a 1840 inline/ Bale Baron.. So as far as we are concerned Hay is the way!
Can you do a video on your farm trucks. I got a 93 Ford F-150 4x4 that I give to my daughter, she drives it to school and uses it to get feed and hay bales for her two steers.
Thanks for that. There is something really soothing about seeeing the bales in the field. "Getting winter in" it was called when I lived in Scotland. I used to watch motorcycle videos to relax, now I have a Farmall Cub Super with a cutter bar, its old tractors cutting and baling that does it. All the best to you all.
I had left some extra string in the chamber and I thought it would spit it out when it tied, but it just got wrapped up. Cleaned it out and it was ready to ride
Glad to see someone who knows how' to rake with side delivery rake! Seen videos where they snatched hay away from windows! Hope they watch you rake correctly!!
That's New Holland balers for you everything has to be exactly right. I normally leave a bale in the chamber for 2nd, 3rd and 4th cut, makes starting out easier. With the 990 I generally bale in 2nd low for an average crop which is 300 bale's off 2.1 acres with 70 pound bale's. Light crop 1st high and heavy 1st low or 2nd low slow or I'll run one of our Italian SAME tractors which have much better gear selection and powershift
Thanks so much for your video. I am new to baling and have very similar equipment to yours. Q: Apparently with alfalfa, one needs to crimp before baling. Any old school suggestions. Perhaps a new school suggestion? Lots of cover crop crimpers are coming out on the market. Thanks.
