Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Orchestral Cover

"And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true"
Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Called Over Rainbow in the Original) was originally written for the film "The Wizard of Oz" (1939) by Harold Arlen and Lyrics by Yip Harburg. This became the signature song of renowned actress Judy Garland who played Dorothy Gale in the film. Over the Rainbow was also the last song written for the production.
The song was originally cut from the original film after a preview in San Luis Obispo, California due to the MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer) chief at the time, Louis B. Mayer thought it "slowed down the picture". Producer Mervyn LeRoy, Associate Producer Arthur Freed and Rodger Eden (Judy Garland's Vocal Coach) argued and insisted that the song be put back in the film. In the end, They were successful and the song's debut in the film inspired many others to have iterations of their own. This was also used widely in multitudinous television commercials, advertising and movie trailers. In this case, one of the trailers for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which inspired this cover.

This is a culmination of everything I've learned in making these covers and this is by far the largest and most complex one. It begins with a grand opening with the magnanimous spirit of the orchestra teasing what's to come by manifesting a huge entrance. This transitions to a mellow intro of strings to introduce the piece's second movement, A batch of strings and woodwinds.
The first strings and flutes prepare as the entire strings section arrives to play the third movement. Halfway in, The brass section begin to soar while the drums become louder. The drums rest for a bit while horns continue the melody. Then the percussion marches, signaling the arrival of the finale.
The finale consist of the entire orchestra working together to bring forth the full power of the composition. The strings provide the way forward with the brass section's sheer velocity. The thunder of drums creates the epic feeling of a movie trailer. Then the percussion rests for the last time. The strings and brass come together for a rich tone in the composition. They fade out for awhile and the ending puts a beautiful conclusion to the piece.
