Between this and lost in translation to me are the best movie endings ever. So unrefined just music and the main character. You are left to ponder exactly what it means, but you'll never know It's that sense of being incomplete that keeps it fresh. As years go by and you watch the films at different times in your life it will take on a different meaning each time. She is brilliant.
i don't know, i feel like the ferrari is the symbol of his expensive fast life which goes nowhere, like he has this fast car but never drives it fast, never really goes anywhere. He ditches it at the end and walks, which i guess is less fast, simpler, but better. and it looks like he knows where he's going.
Je peux pas j'ai piscine. In the end he abandons his boy's toys and his empty celebrity life for a future with his daughter and perhaps a meaningful family life. What a lovely idea!
Since his experience creating a genuine relationship with his daughter, he has discovered meaning beyond materialistic whims. It’s a nice contrast with the first scene, where he stepped out of the same Ferrari but didn’t go anywhere. Back then, boredom triggered action to stop the car but his life lacked purpose and meaning, so he couldn’t go anywhere. Now, at the end, it’s his new found purpose and meaning that compels him to move forward in his life and make changes. A beautiful underestimated masterpiece of character-based storytelling.
The meaning of this ending is that he drives away from all the glitter and glamour, the fake world of materialism. He lets everything behind, even his car...and strolls away towards the a new beginning. Without a plan.
