Great video! Love your content! I’m a server and I’ve been really getting into wine in the past few years and your videos have helped inspire me to learn more and to travel. Went to Italy and Tuscany, then to France and Bordeaux. There’s just something different about being able to associate a wine with a place you’ve been when you’re opening a bottle. I’m going to take on the WSET level 2 this year and these videos are helping me! White wine has always been my weak spot! Keep up the awesome content!

That was a tough one! I was with you to Russian River. Why not Carneros? I’ve had some amazing Carneros chards recently. Not much malo or oak. Without tasting 10-15 each the day before I’d be hard pressed to differentiate them from Russian River. And clearly Freemark Abbey would be a total wild card!

So turns out this fruit is partly from Carneros, which may explain why I was having trouble placing it!

Thanks for another great lesson! Does Advanced Somm require to be able to tell between Sonoma and Napa Chardonnay? I mean is there really regional significance which can be recognisable over producers individual style?
@visforvino
@visforvino 3 месяца назад
Official Options for advanced are for Chardonnay in CA are Carneros, Napa, Russian River, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Valley. Carneros and Sonoma Coast are obviously super different, but the other 3 are definitely tough to pinpoint! Curious any someone who really knows NorCal can assist with some tips!

What was the abv of the wine compared to the guess of 14.5%?
@visforvino

Happy to say I was spot on. 14.5%. Vintage was correct as well.

Why don't you guess that's probably Casablanca Chardonnay?
@visforvino

Felt too rich for a coastal Chardonnay.

in my opinion, Its fairly easy to distinguish between a Napa Chard and a Sonoma. I just look at the label.
