Was sold on this until I saw the 600 euro charge for the eye tracking module, nearly a 30% price increase for ~$50 of parts... the margins on that IR sensor are ridiculous. Not knocking the quality of the overall headset but every product is a price-to-quality consideration. Especially in a quickly developing market. No doubt those who purchase will love the quality of the headset, but it's a serious shame that they are so aggressively shrinking their market by over pricing the eye tracking by that much.
I have to agree with you there. I hated to order a headset without eye tracking in 2024, but I could not justify that price increase so I went with the Classic Edition. Banking on their superior visual quality, because that's literally all this thing has going for it other than a promised (yet to be proven) QC.
I want to say, thank you very much for providing quality competition to the market. This is what is needed! Secondly, may I ask please, what is the additional weight going from the Classic Edition to the Visionary Edition. Many thanks!
nah thats crazy i just purchased an vive xr with face tracking and eye tracking and i spent idk 1500? the idea of 3.5k for a headset that doesnt even include mouth tracking is so sad to see. the price is waaay too high
Better visuals, bigger FOV,eye tracking fov Rendering, Handtracking,no distortions, Mixed reality.much more Options in Setup AS for example to Change fov and gain FPS.open sourcey built quality... Yeah Sure Same AS Crystal light😂 ah forgot no dead Pixels and every single Display is calibrated and checked, brighter Display and upcoming unique local dimming
Crystal Light is SLAM tracked so poor compatibility with FBT and has no eye tracking. VR1 is a much better option for SocialVR. Main reason for price difference is Somnium V1 is manufactured in Czech Republic and Crystal is manufactured in China.

Still better lenses, fov, sweet Spot, colours, local dimming, quality Control, colours, calibrating Screens, 2x brighter Displays, and better clarity, no distortions, still the Software which allows You to Change the size and Rendering of the fov which influence the FPS. produced in eu.... But WHO Cares at the end. Everyone should buy what they want. So basically u compare a simple Headset to a Premium one. Like Cars both Bring You from a to b but how IS the difference and how is the Trip. Drive a VW or a BMW or whatever
Ultimate Edition is more expensive than the Apple Vision Pro, and Traslucent Edition is 600€ more than the Ultimate Edition for just a piece of plastic. In my honest opinion, this headset is dead on arrival, for the consumer market at least.
Cheapest edition should start ATLEAST from 799$ or 1299$ depends on the resources to make one since i don't know. I'm not trying to hate don't get me wrong this headset is awesome but it's WAY too overpriced.
