The fact that this is actually based on a true story is so sad though. That a mom died for her children to get a oculus like couldn’t the kids wait a little while to where it would actually be in stock and the mom wouldn’t do some dangerous contest and die.

The son never killed the mom, the mom decided to take part in this challenge for a video game headset which the kid didn’t know. She took place in the “water” challenge knowing the health risks. Edit: She did know something was wrong, not feeling well and was asked multiple times if they could call her an ambulance which she denied. It even said it could cause harm!

All this series has done has given me a new found love for Dhar Mann

This is the story of a California mom (Jennifer Strange) who entered a radio contest called “hold your wee for a Wii.” She was trying to win a Wii game console for her kids. You would think that drinking a gallon and a half of water wouldn’t be harmful but it was for her, she died a few hours after the contest due to “hyponatremi” or more commonly known as water intoxication. Her family sued the radio station which tries to say her death wasn’t their fault bc it was not foreseeable. A jury disagreed especially after hearing a recording of the radio contest when Jennifer complained of her head hurting. The DJ’s laughed about her condition even saying her distended abdomen made her look pregnant. Her family was awarded $16.5 million dollars. Really sad, she was only 29 yrs old and left behind three children. 😔

When I read the title, I legit thought that her son actually killed her over an oculus 2 game. But now after watching the video, I can’t believe that she died from over hydration just to win him the VR headset. I’m glad her husband sued the radio station bc drinking all that water just to win prizes was, like, suicide. I wonder if her son will still want to play with the Oculus 2 knowing that it costed his mom’s life.

I remember how it was when PS2's came out in 2001 or so, they were so hard to get as most games shops were sold out of them for the first few months due to massive preorders. I had to wait until 2003 to get one on sale after the hype fell.
