SoHyang doesn't have a heady mixed register, she has a high tessitura which allows ease in higher register, she is resonating throughout her belts, she has a balanced mix, no lacking of resonance thoughout her mixed register whatsoever

I'm a huge an of Ailee. But we've got to admit that there's always gonna be better vocalist who will come. In this case it's Son Seung Yeon. Hands down! I'm not even gonna be biased about it. I'll admit that Son is a powerhouse. So Hyang is on another level altogether. Her higher range is flawless!

Benjamín Soto Cornejo Son Seungyeon's mix isn't developed enough to close the gap they have in head voice. Son Seungyeon does beat her in this battle though
SuperPianogirl123 Son has better mixed voice that Ailee, it is very masky. Ailee has good support too, almost equal than Son but like 1 note or semitone less in consitence.

All three of their voices are so delightful. I love them all. If I had to rank them, though, Sohyang would definitely be at the top. She's untouchable.
Son FUCKED these girls up from A4-Eb5 (G#5 too). God damn lol From There SoHyang was like "my turn now" lmao. Ailee easily outclassed them in affectation. Son had them in submission with her heroic mid belts. And then SoHyang's stratospheric upper belts put them to sleep. They're all fantastic singers.
So Hyang's transitions are near god-like.....and the power, cleanliness, and consistency in her notes, and the fact that she can hold them for what feels like an eternity in the moment without losing a drip of power, is what gives her the win. It's better to compare Son Seung-Yeon to Ailee and leave So Hyang out of it......the two can sound a lot alike, but against Ailee I'd give Seung-Yeon the win simply because while they both master the deep notes and that "soulfulness" a lot of Korean singers can't grasp, Seung-Yeon is able to completely alter how she sounds, has more power in her vocal abilities, AND hit notes that So Hyang hits. Ailee can't hit some of those super high notes, and while Seung-Yeon can't hold them as long as So Hyang, nor can she deliver the consistent power So Hyang does with those notes, she can at least hit them accurately, and her voice has much more dimension to it than Ailees. It's funny, when I first heard Ailee I never imagined myself saying so many people top her. She's an amazing talent, but it just goes to show you how astonishing both So Hyang and Seung-Yeon are if they can make mince meat of Ailee in certain categories.... Okay maybe not mince meat, but you get my point :P
She can't hit the kind of High notes So Hyang can with the kind of power/ease that she does. Go look up So Hyang's Arirang Alone performance.....there's a part around 2 minutes and 10 seconds on that video, that is what I mean - THAT type of high note singing, Ailee can't do that hun. Ailee is a total pro in the mid/lower/soulful range though, something So Hyang struggles with.. Note, when i say "hit" I mean successfully....yeah Ailee might be able to technically hit a super high note, but she can't hold it long, she strains slightly to get it, or she strains a LOT to hit it and ends up sounding forced. Just look up the cover she and four others(including Son Seung Yeon, did of Chandelier.....that was like 90% strain on ALL of their parts. Yes it's a hard song, but it shows perfectly what i mean about Ailee straining really high notes. Watch some So Hyang videos and notice that when she belts, or ends a song on a super high note, there is no strain and it's almost effortless on her part to hold that thing for forever. But So Hyang's lower notes are mediocre at best, and flat out bad in many examples, but Ailee kicksass in that range. All three are different, and awesome, but don't let your bias cloud your vision when it comes to their vocal abilities
Lol, I have watched almost all So Hyang's and Son Seung Yeon's performances. I like them as well as Ailee :) So Hyang is definitely much better, but Ailee and Son Seung Yeon on the same level, though they have different weakness
MCthulhu M no actually i can see son seung yeon are on the diference level with ailee because she can maintain her resonance through F5 while aile voice above F5 become shrill , if u call about technique between those 2 son son seung yeon are above ailee while ailee sometimes become strain and shrill above F5.

Sohyang's ease in A4 - Eb5 (and her freaking F5s) is soooo 'annoyingly' impressive though I think Seungyeon slayed those notes (except Sohyang came in close with her A Thousand Days sustained D5s). I loved Ailee's A4 - C5 but Seungyeon just nailed them more for me. Seungyeon has so much potential to be an excellent vocalist tbh. Ailee needs to be more balanced with her mix. Sohyang conquered everything from E5 and above. 15:22 officially and literally ended this battle *hands down*
Son and Ailee keep it extremely competitive in the lower belts from A4 to about D5, then Ailee falls out of contention, and Son fights on until about F5 before they both get blown out the water. All amazing vocalists and performers, but the end of the video pretty much sums up the winner: SOHYANG!

11:53 SSY F#5 tho, she has so much weight compared to So Hyang and Ailee, but she can still support till F#5/G5, amazing. By the way in the G5-C6 range, So Hyang wins but all of them are incredible singers!
Ailee role model (one of) is So Hyang. She said that during IM2 with Michael Bolton as a special guest in 2015. She even felt grateful to be performing at the same stage with So Hyang. That is the amount of respect from Ailee to legendary So Hyang.
So hyang has the widest supported range and the best head voice well balanced mix mid belts and high notes ailee and son seungyeon are very good also son has a very good mix and ailee low notes are pretty amazing for a soprano So hyang>>>ailee/son seungyeon I can see them being the asias best vocalists in the future (im talking about son and ailee)
I love Son Seung Yeon's metallic quality to her belts and her wide open mouth and vowels. Makes her belts very impacting and layered. Most fitting for rock. Sohyang has the cleanest and most resonant tone when belting and as you go higher and higher she maintains that resonance. Ailee is good but my least favorite of the three. She hits the notes but some of the frequencies sound a little pinched to my hearing. And Son Seung Two and Sohyang are the only ones that hit those really high notes repeatedly in the same breath again and again, and not just once as a climactic effect.
sohyang. she may have a few flaws here & there (like normal singers) but she's so impressive.. you may not enjoy her tone, but please don't discredit her
misukiy Lambertson has to do with tessitura. I'm a Mezzo and so far my belt weakens considerably at F5 and it's hard to improve range because you have to so careful. Belting C6 is really bad if you don't have the technique. It ruins your voice and damages your vocal chords. I will probably never be able to belt a C6 like So Hyang just because her comfortable voice lies on notes that are way higher than mine.
L.e. Kevin I understand that. I was reply to someone who thought all sopranos should support a C6. Being a singer and one with a lower tessitura makes most of the 5th octave difficult but I know how to keep my voice healthy.

손승과 에일리도 실력파 가수 맞음. 근데 소향은 고음뿐 아니라 직접 들으면 저음조차도 성량 자체가 ㄷㄷ 보컬로는 신으로부터 받은 것들이 워낙 독보적이라. 워낙 자기 최고음이 높기에 낮은 음들은 편하게 쉽게 부르는 것 뿐. 풀파워로 최선을 다해서 소리를 내지 않는 거죠.저음도 마음먹고 내면 엄청 꽉 차게 부름. 직접 들어야 알아요. ㅋ
그 다른가수가 이 영상에 나오는 손승연 에일리를 말하는 거라면 가성 비중이 높아진다는 말은 동의를 못하겠는데요. 오히려 흉성 비중은 손승연 에일리가 더 높아요 특히 에일리는 흉성 비중을 줄여야 되는데 너무 높아서 문제일 정도고. 소향님 고음이 단단하면서 풍부하고 듣기 좋은 건 흉성이랑 두성이 반반씩 균형있게 섞여서 극고음에서도 공명 유지하면서 소리를 내서 그런 거죠 외국사람들은 balanced mix라고 하네요
JC Kim 에일리는 중고음이상에서도 좀 체스티한거 인정하는데 3옥미/파 이상은 손승연이나 소향이나 걍 밸런스믹스에여 그 상태를 소향이 4옥타브도 샵 까지 유지하는게 대단한거 솔직히 소향이 노래에서 A4-c#5/D5 다른 여가수들 처럼 흉성 안섞는건 맞는데 못한는건 전혀 아니라고 생각. 옛날 교회 라이브(그외 아빌립아캔플라이 그것만이 내세상)들어보면 첫번째 브릿지 중음 엄청 파워풀하게 발성하는거 들을 수 있죠 ㅎ
