Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk finally arrived at Rajghat late on Wednesday night after significant delays and was greeted by enthusiastic supporters chanting slogans like “sher aaya sher aaya.” The Delhi Police detained climate activist Sonam Wangchuk at the Singhu border Monday night, while he was marching to the Capital with around 120 supporters to demand Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh. The march, the ‘Delhi Chalo Padyatra,’ had started from Leh a month ago. Lallantop team reached Rajghat to know what will the plan of wangchuk after the release from police detention. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, granting law-making powers to local people to protect their land and cultural identity. The Sixth Schedule of Indian Constitution contains provisions related to the Administration of Tribal Areas like in the States of Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram. The Sixth Schedule provides for the administration of certain tribal areas as autonomous entities. However, some demand may be affact other states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan etc. as they have a demand of the same. However, central government can have a discussion with them, but it's also been noted that people of Kashmir valley also partipating & may be they are looking from all angles. Ladhak recently separated from J&K as UT with no vidhan shaba.

Take a look at it area-wise as well. Ladakh has a larger area compared to J&K, and the population is spread across far distant regions. That's why it's important for effective administration to reach these far-flung areas. Also, according to the new rule, districts can be created not only based on population but also on area size..
