Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the 13th-century mystic poet, was truly one of the most passionate and profound poets in history. Now, today his presence still remains strong, due in part to how his words seem to drip of the divine, and startle a profound remembrance that links all back to the Soul-Essence.
Music & Voice: Md Taufikur Rahman
Transcription:
Listen to the song of the reed,
How it wails with the pain of separation:
“Ever since I was taken from my reed bed
My woeful song has caused men and women to weep.
I seek out those whose hearts are torn by separation
For only they understand the pain of this longing.
Whoever is taken away from his homeland
Yearns for the day he will return.
In every gathering, among those who are happy or sad,
I cry with the same lament.
Everyone hears according to his own understanding,
None has searched for the secrets within me.
My secret is found in my lament-
But an eye or ear without light cannot know it. . . .”
The sound of the reed comes from fire, not wind-
What use is one’s life without this fire?
It is the fire of love that brings music to the reed.
It is the ferment of love that gives taste to the wine.
The song of the reed soothes the pain of lost love.
Its melody sweeps the veils from the heart.
Can there be a poison so bitter or a sugar so sweet
As the song of the reed?
To hear the song of the reed
everything you have ever known must be left behind.

It's Rule number Forty: A life without love is with no account.. Don't ask yourself what kind of love would u seek, spiritual or material, mundand or divine,Eastern or Western.. Divisions only leads to more division. Love is what it is , simple and pure.....Love is the flow of water and lover is the soul of fire....The universe turns differently when fire loves water... -Shams Of Tabriz

Well I also wrote a poem. Life If there are truth, There are also lies. Wear your boots, And say goodbye. To find the truth, To eliminate lies. Wear your suit, And say we'll meet again goodbye. Out there a journey is been holded. And now's the time it should be Unfolded Out there survive, Now begins your life. Theme: When we get out of our wramth of our parents and start to explore the world a new life begins and we have to survive we wear our boots and suit and say a goodbye An new life begins its a journey that is waiting to be unfolded because you were preparing for it.

With the grace of my Guru. I ll try to decode the poetry here... Reed literally means portion of musical instrument through which we can blow and generate music. Just like flute. [Like Krishna used to] In spirituality [all religions] when a perfect master [or a guru] bestows divine knowledge [direct perception of God within] he/she also experience Anahad naad [endless music] internally, even a deaf person who can't listen to external music can experience that because it is beyond senses. Great Rumi is asking us to listen to that song, separation here refers to that of soul and supreme. Reed bed here refers to birth and coming into this world full of materialism and pain. pain of longing here refers to someone who is dying to again meet god, be one with thy [this feeling is called Mumukshva in sanskrit] Homeland is our true home oneness with God Everyone hears according to his own understanding - when one is seeking god, people tend to decode it with their limited understanding My secret - of longing for God The song of reed comes from fire - fire of knowledge and meditation [friction produced while doing deep meditation rather than simply focusing on breaths - wind] Without this fire - knowledge, life is a complete waste, song comes only from knowledge Here wine refers to internal nectar - nothing to do with external wine Veils here mean impressions of our karmas which make us deluded for a while To hear this song, everything must be left behind - meaning leave out all of your preconceived notions about religion and spirituality and seek divine knowledge from the perfect master of the time [Just like Rumi did from Tabrej]
