Poles Apart, from Division Bell. - is a MASTERPIECE ! When this song was released, it was right after my 12 year old son, was shot and killed, accidentally by his best friend. My shattered heart, and broken spirit ----- transformed into a strong will, and intense purpose driven existence - to see his younger sister, survive and thrive. This album, and all of their albums.....were inspiration - as they had been since 1973 - when I was 13, and heard Dark Side of the Moon, for the first time.
Hugely underrated album imo. It's like adult contemporary Pink Floyd but it's such a beautiful album. Super chill, beautifully constructed, and Gilmour is just ethereal. Love Marooned and Wearing the Inside Out. RIP Richard Wright
"Did you know? It was all going to go, so wrong for you" was about Sid Barrett. When he says "Hey you, Did you ever realize what you'd become?," it's about Roger Waters and the rest of the song is about Waters.
Pole Apart is one of my favorites. "Coming Back to Life" is my favorite by Pink Floyd, and I have listened to Every one of their albums over and over !! Love your channel !!
When I listen to Pink Floyd I see and feel their music as an "experience" that takes me to a transcendental high. I have been listening to their music (experience) since the very early 70's and I never get tired of them.
I was looking forward to you seeing your reaction to the interlude in ‘the Start of Something Beautiful’ on Deadwing, but I’m never disappointed to hear Pink Floyd - they are my favourite band. Good luck with welcoming your new dog!
The theme of the Division Bell album is undoubtedly "communication", and when all communications cease to exist, we can say that we are Poles Apart. So it's no surprise that many people think of Roger Waters and the rest of the band while listening to this song.
Interesting to see even Pink Floyd pay tribute to Steve Hackett. The acoustic guitar riff throughout this (1994) is very much like the main riff in 'Narnia' from 'Please Don't Touch' (1978). Therefore a nice song!
David Gilmour was the guitar god playing on this song,so matching it. Your the first reactor that I've seen on this track. Heavily Gilmour influenced this Division Bell album is often underated but musically it has some gems in it especially if you like guitar, and I feel in places is a sad reflective look back amongst the current bandmates.Try grammy winning Marooned off the same album ,,close your eyes and enjoy!
I disagree with your observations about David Gilmour's voice - I would recognise it anywhere. Listen to Gilmour and Wright harmonising on Echoes Pompeii and you will live to eat your words. However I do agree with your comment that it is far better to feel Pink Floyd's music than it is to attempt a layman's intellectual analysis.
If you are getting started with Pink Floyd, try Saucerful Full of Secrets and Echos Pt 1 and 2 from their Live at Pompeii album. It's a live show in an old Roman amphitheater, but with no audience.
If you not a big fan of pink floyd 's voice, hear the concert PULSE 1994 Remasterized 2019... Begin with Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here and High Hopes and I think you gonna change your opnion
Love this song. Love the album too. Don't get why people often dismiss Division Bell - it's one of my favourite albums of all time. Not as grand maybe as Dark Side or The Wall but brilliant in its own right.
You should definitely listen to When The Tigers Broke Free. Roger Waters wrote the song about the WW2 battle during which his father was killed. It's incredibly emotive. Hardly anybody knows the song.
It's a loose concept album based on lack of communication. There is Def a shot or two thrown at Roger, I mean "Lost for Words" is obviously about him though Dave always denies it
I think it is because in an interview, Wright said of Syd's demise: 'It was like the light in his eyes had gone out, nobody was home". It seemed to me that the words reflected that throughout and indeed the last line in this song says as much.
If you’re going to do Pink Floyd, “Animals” is an amazing album to pick from. Division Bell had nothing from Roger Waters on it, so the “soul” wasn’t really there. Doesn’t “feel” like a Floyd album to me whatsoever. From “Animals” however, some great songs of course would be “Dogs” and “Pigs” if you really would like to react to amazing music.
Pink Floyd Animals is a great album to listen from start to finish imo. The newer Floyd stuff sucks imo. It's after they broke up and it's mainly Dave.
Hello. Thank you for watching and for the feedback. Any chance you could elaborate please? Do you mean this song today or in general every week? (today was something different unfortunately). Thanks
@@initum1599 i didn’t even watch nearly the video. When you started choosing the song from what ever list. You were looking at on your screen. That the moment i stopped watching.
