Xishuangbanna is next to Laos, how come Thais and not Laotians? China does not have a border with Thailand. Unless they both celebrate the same festivals and are very close ethnically? Perhaps Thailand was part of a Laotion Kingdom once encompassing Thailand and Cambodia? Any anthropologist around?
Thailand, Laos, and South China were once one bigger Thai kingdom called Ayuthaya. Meanwhile Vietnam and Cambodia were another united kingdom called Funan. Laos was once part of a Thai kingdom. But then, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Southeast China became a French colony. Burma, Thai Peninsula, Northeast India, Bhutan, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, and Bangladesh were once a single British Colony.
That is so beautiful, but very different than Songkran in Myanmar and Thailand with humans pulling horse carriages, but the familiar Myanmar drumming and chimes style making it quite very interesting. I wish the geopolitical situation was good so I could be working in China and traveling which bums me out to no end for China and Asia are so awesome to experience.

Yeah, we can still see some traditional cultural for now, but not sure if it can be continued in next decades. Good news is, at least there are some people are trying to keep it.

Xishuangbanna is true Thai/Kadrai culture, which originated in China’s GuangXi province, Thailand’s songkran is a bit different because Thai culture it influenced and mixed with Khmers and Mon’s culture, even it’s language has over 50% of loan wards.

44.40 Songkran goddess riding Buffalo not Elephant. In Thailand, This year all parade shown the lady who represented Kabillaphom's daughter called “Kimita Devi” is the goddess for 2023. She is perched on a buffalo and is believed to bring rain, abundance and fertility. i also seen the parade from Luang prabang shown same as Thailand.
Not really. There are residents of multiple ethnic groups in China, and we can see different traditional cultures in some area especially during their festivals. However, there are fewer people inheriting the traditional cultures, not sure if we still can see it in next decades. I'll show more different cultural area and activities in future video. I can finally travel normally after the lockdown over. :)
I have always thought the Han Chinese have already sinicized every ethnic groups they have ruled over already. This is good progress that the Chinese government allows different ethnic groups to keep and celebrate their unique culture different from the Chinese New Year.
